Another day, another tone-deaf and inflammatory remark about homeless people from multimillionaire Caitlyn Jenner.
Yesterday, the California gubernatorial candidate tweeted a New York Post article about the homeless camps in the Venice Beach neighborhood of Los Angeles, along with the caption:
“As Governor I will work with local leaders to continue cleaning up the mess, years of democratic rule have left us with. We have to clean up our streets and increase quality of life for all Californians.”
As Governor I will work with local leaders to continue cleaning up the mess, years of democratic rule have left us with. We have to clean up our streets and increase quality of life for all Californians. https://t.co/CWcBgOYMet
— Caitlyn Jenner (@Caitlyn_Jenner) July 7, 2021
The tweet comes one week after Jenner, who is worth an estimated $100 million, went on a local L.A. news station to suggest rounding up all the homeless people in the city and dropping them off in “an open field out in some place” where they can presumably kill each other off.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
“The crime rate is going up,” she said. “It’s mostly homeless-on-homeless murders. We can’t have that in our streets.”
“We have to provide some place for those people to go, whether it’s an open field out in some place, or if you notice at the veteran’s facility. There’s these big open fields and a lot of places there.”
Homeless people are tired of seeing Caitlyn Jenner biking and wondering how she is a multimillionaire when she hasn't had a job in 30yrs. https://t.co/SRdAnnAVnN

And now, the responses to her most recent tweet…
By “clean up our streets” I assume you mean forcibly removing already greatly disadvantaged human beings and placing them somewhere else where rich people don’t have to look at them. Any meaningful, long term solutions to address the real roots of homelessness?
— Robert Stribley (@stribs) July 7, 2021
Curious . . . what experience do you have in dealing with the homeless? Every volunteer, gone to a public meeting, or even donated? As long as they stay away from your airplane hangar, it’s all good.
— Kathy Baldock/Canyonwalker Connections (@canyonwlkr) July 7, 2021
What is your plan to clean up the “mess?”
— SO (@sue_oshea) July 7, 2021
She wants to ship them to some "open field" somewhere. Don't know if she was thinking about a asphalt covered empty space by the Veteran's Center on Rosecrans. Just going to make it someone else's problem.
— Irhobbitish (@Irhobbitish) July 7, 2021
Will you still do it when you’re not Governor? What have you done to help so far?
— Courtney Wenthen (@CourtW27) July 7, 2021
Um it looks like they started without you. 🤔

They are people. Not dirt. Not mess.
People.Try climbing out of your ivory tower and actually helping those in need.
That is what great leaders do.
— Mags (@Keen1971) July 7, 2021
Enough with the empty platitudes. Either give a policy example your administration would implement to fix the issues, or just be quiet.
— Brenna Simon 🇺🇸 (@BrennaSimonSays) July 7, 2021
In addition to being a staunch Trump supporter, even after acknowledging he’s “the worst president we’ve ever had” when when it comes to LGBTQ rights, Jenner believes that “biological boys should not be allowed to participate in girls sports” and says it was easier to come out as trans than it was to come out as a Republican.

Just a friendly reminder. Misgendering and deadnaming someone, no matter how much they’re a horrible person, is a shitty thing to do. Don’t be a transphobic shithead when there’s so many other things to shit on Caitlyn for.
rural queer socialist
C’mon! There ain’t any more ridiculous self-righteous hypocrites than queer ones! There are more wicked hypocrites. There are more harmful hypocrites. But there ain’t any more RIDICULOUS ones than the queer ones. Queer ones are also likely the most prolific hypocrites.
Chrisk

Homocons like yourself are apparently not very self aware then.

BRUCE JENNER!
It’s not earned the right to be called by it’s choice
Eff you.
JohnnyBoy2
I looked closely, and didn’t see any instances of dead naming or misgendering in the article.
I see some in the comments to your posting, which I interpret as angry retorts to you.
otttovan
It was pre-emptive. Any time an article about Caitlyn goes up, there are multiple people deadnaming and misgendering. Queerty refuses to remove the comments even though they’re against the policies of the site. I figured that getting ahead of it was better than waiting until it happened
bsg1967
So that’s what you took away from this story?
Fahd
“Another day, another tone-deaf and inflammatory remark about homeless people from multimillionaire Caitlyn Jenner.” pretty much sums it up. I’m wondering if Malibu has a homeless shelter or even any services for the homeless?
rural queer socialist
WOW! So ‘house-less’ people only deserve a ‘shelter’! VERY White Supremacy-ish, that idea.
House-less people DESERVE a safe, clean home. But Dem government law and zoning across California does not allow ‘by right’ building, – that would increase supply of housing, since property owners could build without burdensome fees, regulations, etc. Dem government law and zoning also does not allow many forms of housing – prefabricated, modular, manufactured, stacked, SROs, etc.
Dem government planning across California also does not focus on job skills in education and instead makes education about ‘social change’, ‘CRT’, etc. And does not allow or encourage expansion of diverse good jobs available to house-less people near where they can afford housing.
So, look to the Democratic political and social control of California as the key problem of house-less-ness.
Cam
@rural queer socialist
I see the right wing troll account is doing anything it can to mask the fact that California is rich, running multi-billion dollar surpluses under Democrats while red states like Kansas and Oklahoma go broke under Republican economic policies.
Heywood Jablowme
@Cam/rural queer socialist:
‘Sweetie, I’ve told you before that if you’re going to reply to your own comments under a different name, try not to do it one minute after they’re posted. It just makes it too obvious.
‘Then again I shouldn’t be surprised because your troll game is sad and weak.’
Cam
@Heywood Jablowme
LOL!! I can always tell when the right wing troll account is scrambling, it goes back to the “I know you are but what am I?” defense because it has nothing else.
Oh, and precious, it’s beautiful that you never remember which account you’re on when you defend your original posting. I Didn’t think you r trolling could get sadder or weaker…..but you keep surprising me.
Heywood Jablowme
@Cam/rsq/Sybil: Obviously you think you’re not getting enough attention here as “Cam” so you create these other personae like Miss Terri and rural queer socialist so you can argue with “yourself.”
It’s certainly suspicious that the only commenter who whines a lot about the supposed trolls, has apparently written the Official Rule Book of Trolling! (Which I quoted from.) Cam knows every detail about how to troll properly, and when to do it, and how long to wait to do it, etc. etc. Gee, how did Cam acquire such obscure and arcane knowledge? And when Cam breaks his own Official Troll Rules, someone might point it out.
And I’m not defending rsq. Regarding Caitlin Jenner I agree with “Cam” – whoever that is at this point.
Vince
Heywood Jablowme
Jesus Christ what are you like 12? Please tell me you’re not an adult because these teenage games you keep playing make you sound really pathetic. Grow the eff up.
Heywood Jablowme
@Vince: Your ire should be directed at “Cam.” He’s been accusing me for months of being “the” right-wing troll who’s supposedly using several dozen (!) screen names. In my case I’m mystified why he even got that notion: I’m an ordinary liberal Democrat, heck I’m a member of the freaking ACLU. I’ve never posted anything here that’s even remotely pro-Trump or “right-wing.” And I’ve been posting here for many years – longer than Cam has.
Cam also LIES about people being right-wing trolls when it is easily disproved. He’s unaware that all our posts are searchable on Google. Recently he called a relatively new commenter a troll. I searched the new guy’s two dozen or posts and there were no political comments at all! – the poor guy only wrote about pop culture stuff.
Cam used to be “DCguy” here and has admitted it. He’s the only Queerty poster who we know for sure has used other screen names. He’s obsessed with the subject, and writes all kinds of rules about how to *properly* troll. And yet we’re supposed to believe that someone else is doing the trolling? Seems we have Suspect #1 already.
You could be next, Vince! – he’s haphazard and random about who he accuses.
Cam
@Heywood Jablowme
Doesn’t matter what screename you’re under, your obsession with me is hilarious.
Heywood Jablowme
@Sybil: That’s a pretty “lame and weak” response. 🙂
@QUEERTY: Please take your Comment Policy seriously and ban Cam and all his imaginary friends for his/their near-daily violations of it.
DarkZephyr
@Heywood Jablowme Dude…from what you said in your researched essay about Cam, you really love to spend a lot of personal time and energy on Cam (so what if he was admittedly DCguy?). And given your lack of concern for what rural queer socialist has been saying about the homeless in your eagerness to get a dig in at Cam who wasn’t even talking about you in that post, I find it very difficult to believe that you’re a “liberal democrat”.
Heywood Jablowme
@Dark Zephyr: Once I replied to “rural queer socialist” when he responded negatively, albeit quite off-topic, to something liberal I wrote. “rsq” was new then but I suspected it was really Cam. And Cam immediately accused me of responding to my “other” screen name in order to make myself look good! So it’s not “lack of concern” for what the ridiculous rural queer socialist is yammering on about; I just realize it’s really Cam writing that crap.
Everything we post here is searchable by Google. I have nothing to hide, and if Queerty ever wants to check IP addresses they’ll see I’m not the one posting under multiple screen names.
Cam
@Heywood Jablowme
Sweetie, you give away that you’re the same troll by the way you continually come in screaming to defend your other screenames.
It’s just sad watching how pathetic your troll game is.
Heywood Jablowme
Why would I “defend” Cam’s other screen names? “rural queer socialist” is CAM. “Miss Terri” is CAM. I’m not defending them.
And if Cam thinks the “multiple screename” problem is so serious, such a threat to Queerty that he needs to bring it up in nearly every “Cam” comment, why doesn’t he want Queerty to ban anyone doing that? Because he’s doing it himself.
drmiller
Okay community let’s make something QUITE plain about Miss Caitlyn Jenner: this woman has ZERO interest in being Governor. She doesn’t care about California. She doesn’t want to help anyone. She isn’t looking out for her community. She has no interest in fixing California’s many problems (born and raised in the Bay Area myself; so I’m quite familiar). She is doing this for relevancy. That is all. She is going to keep saying stupid, outrageous crap as long as we all continue to report, read, and react to it. Stop it. Stop feeding her. She is using Donald Trump’s method of saying dumb nonsense because she knows we will write about it and we will talk about it. Which means we are talking about her. STOP. Let’s just all collectively decide to ignore her and the problem instantly goes away. She isn’t going to win, no one would vote for her over ANY candidate (let along Newsom). The best way for us to show our disdain for this parasite of a human being, is to simply ignore her. That is all.
rural queer socialist
People who can work and don’t work, people who can pay taxes and don’t, people who prefer their vices (pornography, parties, social media, etc) to social goods, are – as you call it – ‘parasites’. Other parasites include ridiculous self-announced ‘progressives’ and ‘socialists’ who don’t understand that Socialism requires that EVERY ONE WORKS, no exceptions. When Socialism actually arrives ya’ll idiots gonna be SUR-PRISED!
drmiller
What the hell are you even talking about? I’m just trying to get this dumb twat off my feeds. I’m not talking about policy I’m talking about social relevancy. Socialism? Like wut?
Cam
@rural queer socialist
LoL!!!
You’re almost sadder under this screename than you are under your “MissTerri” screename.
barryaksarben
Rural queer is MS Terri. HIL LAR IOUS! whay havent you been here? oh my bad you are here
belugafan
Again, queerty – did you actually read her comments or just want to make disparaging and untruthful remarks about someone you do not like. The homeless situation IS a mess as she said and she actually has plans to fix it unlike the willful neglect and disdain the current Democratic leadership have for the homeless. It is so sad what they are doing to this group of people – allowing them to live this way with untreated mental health and crime. I don’t like Jenner but at least she cares about this issue and wants to do something about that. I will take that anyway over doing nothing.
drmiller
Did YOU actually READ her “policies”? The woman has the IQ and preparedness of Trump. She’s an idiot! She doesn’t understand the issue and she certainly cannot contribute to the solution in any meaningful way. That isn’t a left v right comment. It’s a “Caitlyn Jenner is an absolute moron” comment.
Chrisk
belugafan
I don’t know where you’re at but they are getting them off the streets and into social programs. There’s a homeless community right down the street from me in North Hollywood. It’s basically tiny modular homes.
I didn’t hear one word out of her mouth other then getting rid of them. She doesn’t know shit other then parroting what the cult wants to hear.
Fname Optional Lname
Her words give her away every time. She is so far gone she actually believes Republican’s would vote for her and that she would be considered a viable candidate! She only spews phrases that she feels the right wing media will promote like getting rid of the eyesore of the homeless without ever spelling out a comprehensive solution. “Open fields” and “like the Vets” are not solutions, they are sound bites that she believes will get her a “Get out of LGBTQ” card in the eyes of Republican voters.
LumpyPillows
Caitlyn is terrible, but on this topic she’s right. None of you who support the bums living on the streets lives anywhere near these cesspool tent blights. They aren’t homeless, they are drunks and drug addicts and dangerous crazy people who refuse to follow laws and basic rules. Have them move on to your sidewalk if you love them, but you know you won’t. Nonsense like this that make liberals look like suckers and hypocrite.
Mr. Stadnick
She has plans? I have never heard anything concrete from her mouth. Its all a bunch of babble and nonsense. After she gets all the homeless people in a field somewhere what does she suggest to do then? Crickets.
She isn’t trying to be governor she is trying and succeeding to get her name and mug in the press. Luckily this site would never be considered press so they can write all about her.
Cam
Another new Troll screename.
Let’s see, Jenner said that all the homeless should be taken out to a field somewhere because looking at them was upsetting and that out there they would only harm themselves not others.
Yeah, she’s REALLY trying to do something compassionate.
It’s cute when trolls lie about stuff that was just said a few days/weeks ago.
rural queer socialist
MANY STUDIES SHOW THAT
the primary reason for unhoused people – in these otherwise RICH, RICH, RICH California cities
is Dem-supported zoning codes that do not allow ‘by right’ construction of housing that suppresses local availability of housing, and zoning codes that do not allow modular, manufacturing, stacked, SRO, and other forms of less costly housing. Zoning restrictions also disallow these many less costly housing forms located nearby places where newly-housed can find work, that they can walk do, or bike to, or get by public transportation.
Just watch some episodes of ‘Judge Judy’ with many California landlord tenant cases. WHAT is said to be a typical rent in California is A HORROR! People paying $1000 or more dollars for a bed, in a shared room! etc.
California IS A HELL HOLE/SHIT HOLE of Dem mismanagement.
Cam
Republicans are so anti-American that rather than look at wealthy Democratic run states like California, MA, WA, etc. and ask “How can we bring this success to our own voters?”, they lie and try to convince their voters that these rich states aren’t really rich so they can keep stealing from their own bankrupt states.
Hdtex
You’re garbage rural faggg.
HKfCA
Those are valid reason why we don’t have affordable housing here in LA but you are miss attributing to the politicians and the democratic party. The restrictive zoning laws, and housing regulation you cite are widely supported by vast majority of the housed population. LA mayor tried and is trying the housing first approach, but each unit costed like 500K. Why? partially because the politically powerful builders union got involved and imposed higher labour cost instead of market wages. Also in a dense, earthquake prone city such as LA, housing regulation exist for a reason. The democrats donn’t impose themselves on the people of california, they are fairly elected to serve their interests.
Cam
@rural queer socialist
One last thing, you’re lying.
MANY STUDIES SHOW THAT
the primary reason for unhoused people
Really? Which studies show that? It’s adorable that trolls keep thinking they can lie and never produce a link or any proof.
The primary reason is, California is expensive. Why? Because many many many people want to live there because it has better infrastructure, services, and weather than many other places.
JohnnyBoy2
I don’t believe that building more housing will solve the homeless problem. They can’t afford to live anywhere at any price because they are unemployable due to untreated mental illness, substance addiction, emotional problems, violence, etc, etc.
The crazy homeless need to be put in shelters and cared for. Just like we used to do before Reagan kicked them all out on the streets to freeze to death.
The addicts need to be compelled to kick the habit.
The working poor need to be paid more. The freaking minimum wage is a disgrace.
Cam
Here’s a thought Cait, pay your damn taxes and there would be plenty of money for additional social programs.
Openminded
And what evidence can you produce that proves she doesn’t pay her taxes?
LumpyPillows
You know what I would do if I couldn’t afford an apartment in a very expensive city? I’d more somewhere I could afford. That’s what rational people do. Rational people do not live in tents with drug addicts. These people are users, bridge burners and are generally disreputable. Calling a drunk homeless misdirects from the real problem and disparages people who really are struggling with housing. It also makes you look like a sucker. Why is Caitlyn saying this? Because it resonates with people who live near the bum camps and know better. Its how liberals lose credibility.
Chrisk
h ttps://www.housebeautiful.com/design-inspiration/a35473349/los-angeles-tiny-home-village-homeless-shelter/
These are popping up all over the place so they are doing something about it.
HKfCA
Are you saying being homeless is an irrational choice people make?
Firstly, the kind of “rational” people, you describe, do exist. There are actually a lot of lower income working class people moving out of California because they can’t afford to live here. Not because there aren’t enough well paying jobs, but but because there just isin’t enough affordable housing near those jobs.
Secondly, if you did become homeless, the most rational thing to do would be to move to cities, where there are more resources. Especially cities in California because of the weather. This is an unfair burden on cities, whose residents not only he to deal with high rents, but also will higher taxes to subsidize the homeless. That’s why homeless people in LA and SF should we seen as regional, state, and a national burden and not just a city problem.
Well intentioned liberal residents of LA, SF, have been more accommodating of the homeless because they are humane. The liberal judges in these cities have said, you can’t punish people for sitting or sleeping in public, without offering them shelter. This is not “liberals” loosing their credibility, this is compassionate, humane, policy. The liberals of LA have been compassionate enough to house 22 thousand homeless people so far.
Liquid Silver
I don’t pretend to know what the solution actually is, but Free Range Homeless in fields ain’t it.
Consider This
CA does have some serious issues going on with the homeless. Crime and violence happens more than some want to admit.

No more violent crime than any other southern state.

Don’t think CA is aiming to be like southern states.

We all know Caitlyn couldn’t care less about being governor. What I really want to know is how she is allegedly worth $100 million? There’s no way she got so rich from the Kardashian’s reality show.
Heywood Jablowme
I’m wondering that too. Aside from what seem to be fairly minor sports ventures, Wiki says just this: “Jenner’s company, Bruce Jenner Aviation, sells aircraft supplies to executives and corporations. Jenner was the business development vice president for a staffing industry software application known as JennerNet, which was based on Lotus Domino technology.” Okay, the aviation co. MIGHT be one of those surprisingly lucrative things that “flies under the radar” (pun intended). But $100 mil? The fortune seems fishy, but maybe she is just pretending to be way richer than she is, like Trump does.
Kangol2
@ScottOnEarth & @Heywood, I don’t know the value of all the endorsements Caitlyn gained based on her Olympic decathlete success, but remember, she was a national and international icon, and appeared in numerous campaigns, was on the Wheaties box, even appeared in a few films, etc. I assume that that money, coupled with her other businesses, and then the millions she has surely earned both from the Kardashian “reality show” circus and her own “reality show” (however brief it was). And who knows what else she may own (real estate, equities, etc.). Whatever the case, she probably should be paying more taxes than she currently is.
blackhook
Speaking of a mess… Caitlyn takes the cake — and eats her own dogfood!

GrizzleyMichael
If she is worried about the mess. Give the homeless money and they will get off the streets.
Gourmet Guy
Ignore and/or forget everything this idiot says. She is a hopeless asshole. Her only claim to fame is that she was a he at some point. Look, I’m all in for transgender folks, but not for bigoted idiots who–oh yes–happen to be billionaires. She can kiss my entire ass.

JohnnyBoy2
Someone here was commenting on the need for teaching job skills to fix the homeless problem. That sounds like a slogan, not much thought in it. Job skills are not going to fix substance abuse, mental health problems, domestic violence, antisocial behavior, etc, etc, etc.
