EDITOR’S NOTE: We have significantly revised this article to give it some semblance of actual analysis.
Talking Points Memo kindly provided a video collection of gaffes and out of context quotations from last night’s Republican primary debate. And while their discussion about national security didn’t include any talk about how repealing Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell would affect military readiness (cowards), Santorum and Cain did suggest we keep our eyes on all Muslims, Bachmann said that the ACLU tortures people and Ron Paul called the War on Drugs a failure adding that kids still know how to find drugs when they want ’em—damn right, Ron!

WTF#2? A non-event is a non-article. Does this relate to me being Queer? No. Does this relate to ANYBODY being queer? No. WTF…
Cinesnatch
“why we should arrest all Muslims, how the ACLU tortures people and how much kids love drugs—God bless you, Ron Paul!”
Danny Villarreal makes things up here. And, then, due to his horrible grammatical skills, attributes the misinformation to the only candidate who had anything sensible to say in the clip.
Keep up the great work Danny!

I think its safe to say the republicans have zero touch with reality

The real news from last night’s GOP debate was when Michelle Bachmann leaked classified, national intelligence and said 15 Pakistani nuclear sites were vulnerable to jihadist attacks, and that six of the sites had previously come under some form of Islamist attack.
Bachmann sits on the House Intelligence Committee — at least for the time being.

WOW! we europeans express a mix of utter bewilderment at the utter stupidity of your presidential candidates and panic ridden fear that these loons might become president
Gawd ‘elp us!
fuck me, The West is truly doomed if this is the calibre of leader and is the best we can offer
this bunch of clowns is appalling
John
Seriously, did you guys even watch it? I’m going to guess you guys don’t have any real degree in journalism do you? While the part on racial profiling in the video is accurate (and appalling), most of it is taking these clips and what they said out of context to make them all look crazy. Do you have no journalistic standards? You realize you democratic buddies throw you under the bus too, right?
LandStander
Nobody said that we should arrest all Muslims. A few of the candidates did voice their support for racial/religious profiling (which is disgusting, but different). And why does it sound like you are trying to insinuate that Ron Paul was talking about how much kids love drugs? Nobody mentioned anything even remotely like that, especially not Ron Paul who is for legalization (and not because “kids love drugs”).
Instead of making up complete and utter BS, why not mention some of the REAL things that happened? Like Bachmann leaking classified information, or Santorum calling Africa a country?? There is plenty of real fodder here, why throw it away for more sensational lies??? Come on now, journalism? Integrity? Honesty?

some ppl need to chill a lil bit.. it was a FUNNY video not a documentary…
and for some of you i don’t really understand how someone who is openly gay can be a republican is just ridiculous…
or even democrat since some of them also use us, some times, to get political power…
is time for the USA to have a 3rd party
but nothing will happen for the gay community if WE’re still fighting with each other
that’s why we are so far behind the Black and Latino community cuz the ALL got together and worked together
the lgbt community is so messed up that the G’s are always fighting with each other, the L’s do most of the work, the B’s can care less, and the T’s just want to do what is god for them
Elloreigh
@LandStander: Seconded. Responding to the insanity that is the Republican debates with like distortion does not reflect well on us.
Perhaps the article was meant to be satire, but it frankly does a poor job at even that.
Daniel Villarreal
We appreciate your comments, everybody. We have revised accordingly and will make sure future coverage of such events in brief will provide context rather than just a hasty, non-specifc riff.
LandStander
@Daniel Villarreal: This is much more accurate. Thank you!
John
@Daniel Villarreal:
Thanks Daniel, now you’re pointing out of their lunacy is spot on! Makes me wonder why I’m a Republican sometimes..
Cinesnatch
@Daniel Villarreal: Thanks for listening.

Not one of them is qualified for the presidency.

QUEERTY is misrepresenting what Bachmann said. She did not say that ACLU would
torture prisoners. I think she assumes it wouldn’t. While her language is a
bit muddled (no surprise), what she probably meant is that she thinks Obama has
stopped the torture of prisoners, more or less doing what the ACLU would want, and
she doesn’t like that.
jeff4justice
@vaxg: AMEN! A 3rd, 4th, 5th party and more.
Down with the 2 party system.
