The Flash and Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore star Ezra Miller has reportedly been arrested in Hawaii for the second time in a matter of weeks, just hours before their scheduled court appearance regarding last month’s disorderly conduct and harassment charges.
Hawaii News Now claims the actor was arrested early Tuesday morning on The Big Island of Hawaii on charges of second-degree assault.
The site reports:
Hawaii Island police said Miller was taken into custody about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday. Police said Miller allegedly “became irate” when asked to leave an acquaintance’s home and threw a chair at a woman.
The 26-year-old victim reported a half-inch cut to her forehead.
Late last month, Miller was arrested by police in South Hilo after allegedly harassing patrons at a karaoke bar.

“During the course of their investigation, police determined that the man, later identified as Ezra Miller, became agitated while patrons at the bar began singing karaoke,” read the Hawaii Police Department report.
“Miller began yelling obscenities and at one point grabbed the microphone from a 23-year-old woman singing karaoke (disorderly conduct offense) and later lunged at a 32-year-old man playing darts (harassment offense). The bar owner asked Miller to calm down several times to no avail.”
A local couple, Stoyan Kojoukarov and his wife, Niegel Hayes, also filed a temporary restraining order against Miller last month, alleging the star entered their bedroom window and threatened to burn them. The couple said Miller stole several items from the home, including Hayes’ wallet and passport.

I have worked in the film industry for over 35 years and most of my friends are actors. The vast majority of them are young, talented, and professional with their shit together. They would be grateful and THRILLED to have the opportunities this embarrassing idiot Miller has had. They need help, sure, but first they need to be fired from both The Flash and Fantastic Beasts franchises. These ungrateful morons need to know that there are consequences to their dumbass behavior. It’s not that difficult to find talented young actors who know how to behave like professionals onscreen and off. I hope to never see Miller onscreen ever again.

As I’ve said recently on this site, embracing queer identities don’t absolve homophobia, transphobia, misogyny, misandry, abusive instincts, predator instincts, toxic masculinity, queer insecurities, gay resentments. And it doesn’t get rid of internalized phobias, mental health struggles, fluidity, contradictions, trying to grasp where you are in the gender, sexual, affection, romantic, emotion, commitment spectrum. Ezra clearly got issues, and identities, popularity, roles aren’t gonna absolve them.

Honestly, at this point they belong in jail. It’s been apparent for a while that Ezra has some mental health and substance abuse issues. And I sympathize with that. And they are perhaps having a difficult time dealing with things like traumas, fluidity, contradictions, paraphiliacs, queer insecurities, gay resentments, trying to grasp where they are in the gender, sexual, affection, romantic, emotion, commitment spectrum. But they’ve done too much. Perhaps rehab and therapy after some jail time.

Ezra may be queer-presenting, but they still benefit greatly from typical cis, white, masculine-presenting, hetero privileges. Most people still assume Ezra is hetero-leaning and isn’t interested in anything serious with a guy. Ezra outside of red carpet events and photo shoots is still masculine-presenting. Those are still straight and cis world privileges despite embracing a queer identity, a they/them identity and wearing makeup/dresses on red carpets. Those privileges don’t just go away because you embrace “queer” in whatever ways. Also, about half of Hollywood is probably in the gender, sexual, affection, emotion, romantic, commitment spectrum. So, there is no “us” and “them.” While Ezra and Shia are hardly the first f-ed up entertainers.

Miller is one of a bunch of “problematic” white public figures over the last 20 years who is “queer presenting”. There’s nothing unique or new about his issues. Also, if we have Ezra, you might as well say we have/had David Bowie and a variety of other white men with queer dimensions but who still ultimately benefited from white, cis, hetero privilege and who never had an unabashed non-hetero public relationship. Once again, there’s nothing special about the troubles of Shia or Ezra and neither “belongs” to anyone.

There did seem to be this almost anti-gay movement for a few years, where folks tried to push this idea that only “gay presenting males” could be misogynistic or could be abusive towards women or could be “problematic”. So, you best not embrace a “gay” identity because it reflects misogyny and closed-mindedness. It is nice to see that ridiculous and anti-gay perspective get more and more worn down over time. Your identities, your lifestyle, your preferences, your dimensions, where you are in the gender, sexual, affection, romantic, emotion, relationship, commitment spectrum has little to do with how hateful you are or how messy you are. A lot of these bi/pan presenting guys and they/them presenting bio males are being just as messy and problematic and insecure as anyone else.
