Though you won’t be able to see it until 2018, anticipation for The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story is already reaching a fever pitch thanks to an endless stream of advance publicity. So far, we’ve seen paparazzi pics of sunburned co-star Darren Criss in a red Speedo, and heard some bitter words from Versace’s former lover Antonio D’Amico, who’s none too pleased at the pop star’s portrayal of him (sight unseen.)

To further capitalize on the buzz, FX just released the first teaser trailer for AHS‘s second season. It’s short and not particularly sweet; a 20-second clip that focuses on the late designer’s sprawling Miami mansion. Two gunshots are heard in the distance, and a flock of spooked doves flap away from the scene. If there’s any hidden meaning here, it’s lost on us (gunshots always succeed in disturbing the peace??), but the spot certainly piques our interest.

This looks far more silly than the first installment. And apparently, Murphy has a greater hand in this one. That’s not a good sign. Honestly, this seems like something that would be better for a TV movie or short miniseries than a full on season of television. But I’ll watch (or at least I’ll the first couple episodes) for Cruz and Ramirez.
