“Organizers said Wednesday they were going ahead as planned with the first 2008 U.S. presidential debate, despite Republican John McCain’s call to postpone the event in the face of the Wall Street crisis. ‘We have been notified by the Commission on Presidential Debates that we are proceeding as scheduled,’ said the University of Mississippi, which was to host Friday’s encounter between McCain and Democrat Barack Obama.” [Politico]

Hm. I’m curious how he’ll brush aside his aide’s firm’s FreddieMac payoffs.

I wonder if his (Mccain’s) left eyeball will fall out and roll across the floor.

I am so glad that the Obama campaign did not fall for this ploy. Besides, wasn’t it McCain that said the “the fundementals of the economy are strong”…so what’s there to fix? Yes I know one can change one’s mind, but he’s been the champion of de-regulation, along with Phill Gramm who authored the law to de-regulate the stock market, for 20+ years, so now he’s an agent of change…BULL I say! Debate already!

Too bad mccain’s apparently too old and addlepated to be able to pay attention to two things at one time. That’s kinda a Presidential skill, I should think. Besides, he carefully selected the nation’s Most Qualifiedest Person Ever as his VP, so why not just send palin to help out in DC while mccain debates? Or is he, perhaps, just trying to avoid unpleasantness?
