A Northern Ireland politician has some harsh words for the homos: you’re repulsive.

Alright, he may not say it to your face (he is, after all, a politician), but 41-year old Ian Paisley Jr. told British press:

I am, unsurprisingly, a straight person. I am pretty repulsed by gay and lesbianism. I think it is wrong. I think that those people harm themselves and – without caring about it – harm society. That doesn’t mean to say that I hate them. I mean, I hate what they do.

Paisley’s words should come as no surprise – his father, Ian Paisley, leads the conservative Democratic Unionist Party and founded the Free Presbyterian Church of Ulster, which consistently comes out against the gays.

No surprise some Irish gay activists had something to say about young Paisley’s position, including Stonewall’s Alan Wardle:

The idea that gays and lesbians harm society is deeply offensive. He is a disgrace making these comments when he is an elected politician representing all people and as a minister he should know better. His language is deeply distressing not only to gay and lesbians but to right-thinking members of society.

Oh darling, don’t you know such folk aren’t right in the head.

Consider this: the Paisley pair once campaigned against gay pride, calling it “a celebration of sodomy”. Now Paisley Sr. and lil’ Jr. are donating £180,000 to the queer cause. Obviously they’re so repulsed by the gays, they forgot that they hate us…
