The Chicago Tribune ran a profile this week on a local star wrestler who’s making a name for himself as a freshman at Colombia University.
But it was far from the typical local-boy-made-good piece.
While the Tribune did have positive words for Dylan Geick’s athletic achievements — he won a pair of state wrestling medals at Stevenson — the piece is more focused on Geick, the poet and soon-to-be novelist. And Geick, the social media star. And Geick, one half of a gay Insta-couple.
Via the piece:
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
He is part of an internet power couple with boyfriend Jackson Krecioch, who has 1.2 million followers on Instagram and 452,000 on YouTube.
Navigating that celebrity, while adjusting to academics and athletics in the Ivy League, has made for an interesting time for Geick.
Here’s a look at how Geick and Krecioch have captured young people’s attentions (spoiler: Selfies. Lots of selfies):

Columbia University I think you mean

First thing I noticed!

They’re beautiful in all of them, but the photo against the faux brick fireplace is “I just can’t!” I should have gone to college.
Tobi
Aw, puppy love.

Heard it said over and over that wrestlers and mma fighters are often the hottest in bed, because they are so tuned into their body and the others….sexy article.
cleancut123
Colombia is a latin american country. Columbia University is an ivy league university. You always find uneducated people mixing up Columbia with Colombia or Penn with Penn State. Be elitist and know your ivies people. LOL
Catholicslutbox
Lol.
How does a BASIC TWINK have more followers than Dylan?
Poor boy probably spends all his parents dough on bots.
ingyaom
“internet power couple”? What power do they have?

From a newspaper write up on Dylan Geick:
Just Deserts. Mr. Geick has grappled with homophobia on and off the mat. “People might say things behind my back, but I don’t try to worry about it,” he said. “One wrestler provoked me by leaving a comment on my Instagram, but when I later wrestled him in a state tournament I ended up beating him pretty badly.”
What’s not to love about this kid?
MoleMcHenry
“Guess why this college wrestler and his boyfriend are racking up fans in the millions?”
Because they’re young, fit, white twinks who insist on posting many shirtless pictures and probably hope to become Instagram influencers.
chris33133
Young love; I wish them the best.
judysdad
My dear old grandmother used to say “There’s a lid for every pot.”. If that’s the case, hunky Dylan could have found a hotter lid, IMO.
startenout
You learned nothing from your grandmother since that reference has NOTHING to do with physical beauty and ALL to do with there is a personality match for everyone. Is this why you’re jealous?

YAWN…

As expected lots of comments of grumpy olds.
I’m getting old but i refuse to complain about everything young people do.
It’s not like our parents didn’t complain about what we did when we were teens.
MikeE
You’re absolutely right. Older gays should not be seen nor heard, they should just fade into the background and be forgotten. How dare all those not-young and not-fit older “queens” say anything that COULD have value! They’re ugly to look at.
I think you’re being disingenuous when you compare the comments here to “parents complaining about teens”.
First off, most of these Instagram “stars” aren’t teens.
Secondly, they aren’t famous for anything other than posting pics of themselves shirtless (and oftentimes more).
Thirdly, last I checked this blog wasn’t an “only people who get hard-ons for youngsters can post” place.
drelocks15
You know what’s funny about YOUR post…it’s exactly as expected. Another comment from a brain-addled “Young” person accusing anyone who DARES to criticize an inane story about a vapid “hot” guy and his social media prowess as being bitter and old.
What’s it like being as deep as a puddle?

This particular subthread is incredibly problematic so I’m gonna remind you all that Queerty has an updated comment policy that prohibits personal attacks against other commenters.
Check out the new policy here: https://www.queerty.com/queertys-comment-policy
Future comments that violate the policy will be deleted.

@jjose712
I actually don’t see “lots”. Maybe you are projecting?
MikeE
It makes me wonder how these people will handle the inevitable fall from grace, as they age out of the “pretty boy” phase, and lose those “perfect bodies” and pretty faces, and find themselves suddenly without their millions of “adoring fans”.
Will there suddenly be a lot of confused and lost men, who feel they have no identity other than their preceding “fame”?
Can these guys actually survive as anything other than the object of temporary internet affection?
Obviously, some will have careers and good lives, even great lives, becoming important people in our society. But that’s not the majority.
jpcolter
Right, I see how you think. Anyone who takes a shirtless selfie with their boyfriend just wants to do porn or is somehow in a dire financial situation that will force them into porn. Jeeze. GROW UP.
Kat Casey
Cute guys and all and more power to them in this multimedia world. To each their own. I enjoyed wrestling in high school but ultimately I quit as I was in a weight division with a guy in my class that came from a long line of wrestlers; he knew moves I’d never possibly learn in a million years. It took the fun away and I gravitated toward basketball. And I’m so glad I did because of the cauliflower ears. This guy in this post is only a freshman and his ears (to my eyes anyway) are already destroyed. It’s always easy to pick out a former wrestler!
Nahald
Cute couple. Nothing more needs to be said.
ChrisK
Good question Mike. You think how very short that is as in under 30. After that you better have a plan that’s not all about just selfi taking.

Busy night here on Queerty!
I have removed several comments on this thread that violate our comment policy, and I will continue to monitor and remove any comments that cross the line.
Please remember that casting blanket terms is a violation of the policy, which includes derogatory references to “millennials” and “liberals”. (Using those specific examples only because they were the reason many of your comments are gone.)
Tête Carrée
“Blanket terms are naughty”? Wow, Queerty is really getting to be too much for me. Please Queerty, don’t buy any more LGBT sites, I’m gonna need somewhere else to turn that you haven’t already ruined.
Cylest Brooks
The purpose for Queerty’s new comment policy is to help shift the conversations in more positive directions and eliminate some of the problematic folk who make this site less safe and welcoming. Making blanket statements of a derogatory nature are counter to those goals.
Luckily for you, most logical arguments can be made without using logical fallacies and umbrella language, so you should still be able to say almost anything you’d want to say here while staying inside the guidelines we’ve set. 🙂
balehead
Could this just be a covert version of rentboys?…I wonder how many older gays buy them presents/trips for their images…just wondering
barkomatic
They are hotter than the average hot guy posting shirtless pics somehow. Let’s clone them.

;D

So……they are “Kardashian” famous.

One wrestler provoked me by leaving a comment on my Instagram, but when I later wrestled him in a state tournament I ended up beating him pretty badly.” cool math games
hocuspokeme
A year late, but whatever. They have many fans because they’re attractive, white, young, and muscular. Gays love that.
