Singer Harry Styles today released his first new music in over two years. The brisk, radio-friendly, pop-rock of ‘As It Was’ is the first taster of his third solo album, Harry’s House.

To accompany the new track hitting streaming services, a video, shot in London, also dropped on YouTube. In it, Styles, 28, strips down to his red underwear and shows off plenty of tattooed flesh.

The video appears to have gone down well with fans, with 10million views in ten hours at the time of writing, and 1.3million upticks. Some have speculated about the lyrics, which may make an oblique reference to Styles’ rumored girlfriend, Olivia Wilde. The 38-year old American has two kids, and one line of the lyrics is, ‘Leave America, two kids follow her.’

Rolling Stone says the single finds Styles at his most “nakedly vulnerable”. One verse goes: “Answer the phone/Harry, you’re no good alone/Why are you sitting at home on the floor?/What kind of pills are you on?”

Styles shot to fame as a member of the British boy band One Direction, before carving out his own hugely successful career on his own. Both his two solo albums to date have gone to number one on the Billboard 200.

Besides singing, he’s also enjoyed success as an actor. After a role in the World War II drama Dunkirk, he will next be seen playing the part of a closeted gay cop in the 1950s-set romantic drama, My Policeman.
