Helix Studios performer Shane Cook announced on Twitter this week that he is battling cancer.
22-year-old Cook posted a photo of himself and explaining that he was “tired of being embarrassed about something I have no control over.”
He went on to explain that he’s been diagnosed with stage 2 Hodgkin’s lymphoma cancer, which targets the immune system.
Hello everyone I’m posting this picture because I’m tired of being embarrassed about something I have no control over. So about 3 or 4 months ago I was diagnosed with stage 2 Hodgkin’s lymphoma cancer and in Short am handling it very well! pic.twitter.com/5nJmICahvq

In a follow-up tweet, Shane explains that he’s had some hair and muscle loss, but that he’s doing well and expects to make a full recovery. He’s also looking forward to getting back to work.
I’ve had some hair loss and I’ve lost muscle but I haven’t lost anything that I won’t be able to get back and some so I’m goi g to keep doing what I need to do for myself and look forward to filming later on!

Shane has appeared in a number of scenes for Helix Studios, including the adult films Dig In, Afterparty Pound, and Will It Fit?
Here’s wishing him a full and speedy recovery!
Gigi Gee
I hope he has a speedy recovery.
barkomatic
I hope he has a speedy recovery *and* doesn’t get stuck with a huge medical bill.
Chrisk
At 22 he’s probably still able to be on his parents insurance. If not then I’d assume he would be eligible for Medi Cal.
MacAdvisor
Does bring up the question if the studios provide medical insurance. Equity provides access to all members though them, so is the a porn actors union that provides coverage? He could be covered through the ACA.
Chrisk
I doubt it because they’re not considered to be employees. It would be the equivalent of something like uber. The only medical coverage they probably get us something like testing and prep.
Chrisk
Not that I don’t feel sorry and wish him the best but I’m also scratching my head why this is even being covered. I get it with some of them where they have some notoriety or fame. Most of us have never heard of him though.
Queerty only cares when your deemed cute and fukable. Otherwise there’s lots of stories like this and we’d be hearing about it all the time.
Lacuevaman
Ms. K, queerty represents quite well the mindset of most of the queens who read it. now me…. i read it just to comment and get the gurls going……
Larry
Well apparently people have been asking him about the changes in his body and the place near his right shoulder. While I question why some articles are here, I have no problem with this post. Cancer is happening more and more to all of us. It needs to be made public until we find out why. (Plastic everywhere is my guess. If birds and mammals in the ocean are dying from it, we can as well.)
hoosier1969
That place near his right shoulder would be his chemotherapy port.
GetOffMyInternets
Your second paragraph @ChrisK nailed it. David and Graham only write articles about people they beat off to, they spend hours on social media where a story about Gus Kenworthy adopting a dog needs to be front page, and Jeremy writes self hating articles telling white people how awful they are for not being attracted to him, meanwhile despising his own race. And for as much as I think Lacuevaman is a troll, he’s absolutely correct when discussing the mindset of the readership here. But God forbid you ask the writers to be real journalists in between their fapping sessions to barely legal men, and the other of them telling you you have no right to what it is you may or may not be sexually attracted to.
I wish this man a speedy recovery and that I hope he beats cancer. Don’t give up. I hope he had some money set aside from wherever he lives, and I’m sure that Helix will be as helpful as they can. I’ve had several friends who have worked for that studio as models in the last decade, and every single one of them has said the company treats their models like family and takes excellent care of them while on set. Keep fighting, mister!
Motion
I believe you will get better. We’re all with you…
Mozo83
Get well, Shane. Beat the shit out of that cancer.
Thad
Wishing Shane health and happiness. And hoping he’s enrolled in Obamacare…it’s likely he lacks group health coverage and the Affordable Care Act was intended to fill that gap.
nitejonboy
I’m praying for you Shane, God bless you!!
Ken A.
I’ve had Hodgkins mine was stage 4 although they thought I was a goner twice I recovered I’m not a porn star or anything I was told if I had to have cancer that was the one to have.
Robothedestroyer
Well this hit a little too close to home. Its amazing how quickly cancer can change you. I hope that he beats this thing. Hes so young 🙁
Birdbrain1963
I sorry for your problem.
I don’t see anyone upset about all the poor HIV+ men that have been denied medical services by there government….
