A late night anonymous M4M Craigslist hookup turned violent after one of the men pulled a gun on the other, stole his car, and led police on a 30-minute high-speed chase through the streets of Houston.
20-year-old Leroy Jeffery is accused of pulling out a handgun and demanding his 22-year-old victim fork over his phone and the keys to his Impala then taking off with the man’s vehicle.

The incident happened at around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday morning when the men agreed to meet in a secluded parking lot outside an apartment complex.
“The victim indicated that he and the suspect had met through Craigslist so they could get together and have sex,” Houston police spokesperson Kese Smith said. “While they were in the victim’s vehicle, the victim stated that the suspect produced a pistol and demanded his phone and the car. Fearing for his life, the victim got out of the vehicle.”
“Nothing had transpired up to that point in terms of the sex act,” Smith added that .
The victim managed to flag down a police officer, who chased after Jeffery. The high speed pursuit lasted about half an hour before Jeffery finally surrendered. He told police he had lied to the victim about having a gun and that he never actually meant to hurt him.
The Houston Chronicle captured video of Jeffrey being arrested. It shows him being smiling from the back of a police car and again when an officer escorts him out of the cruiser.
Jeffery was charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon and evading arrest. He also faces an outstanding warrant for aggravated assault on an officer.
The moral of the story: It’s probably best not to agree to meet random strangers late at night in deserted parking lots.

He’s cute at least the victim has good taste.
aliengod
What kind of idiot meets a stranger from Craigslist anyway? Must be truly desperate.
Xzamilio
He is good looking… that should have been the first red flag. Don’t be meeting randoms in private settings, or at your own home. Not that I learned that from experience, but the online dating world can be creepier than a gas station bathroom at 3 in the morning.

Oh my….well glad they got him ……
MarionPaige
I thought the perp walk was illegal. I mean, it wasn’t enough that they paraded the handcuffed guy in front of the cameras, but, they held him in front of the cameras so that the reporters could get additional lighting.
Also, from the video, just take a look at the resources expended on this incident when no one was actually harmed. Yes, a guy was threatened, possibly with a gun, but the community was exposed to a car chase involving about 8 policemen.
MarionPaige
Frankly, I find it amazing that some people can look at the video (wherein the guy was held handcuffed so that he could be photographed by the press) and only see a gay hookup gone bad
Clark35
I’m not surprised this guy was on Craigslist.

so did they at least kiss? what is worse that he is straight or that he IS gay but tried to pimp him out like a regular ho. I guess men will do anything to get something I just need to remind myself that all I need is water and sunshine to get through this greedy world.
TampaBayTed
I think he’ll be on Bubba’s list in jail.

You know the old adage, “When things seem too good to be true……”
darkanser
Why does it always seem there’s an abundance of cops?
charlie_jackpot
This is why you go to a sauna or sex club

@aliengod: It’s called casual encounters, and many people do it. Not much different then other online or digital formats, with all have their own risks. So now you know. . .
Ummmm Yeah
@aliengod: Because Grindr is so much classier and safe.

I applaud the police for parading his ass in front of the camera. I have no doubt in my mind there are others who have encountered this guy and hopefully they will come forward. This is one time I would have broke out the champaign to have heard about him having gotten the living shit shot out of his ass at the end of the chase. The older guys in prison are waiting on his young ass, don’t worry.
geoespar
Oh boy, people listen to the end of the video when the suspect is brought out and you hear the victim ID the suspect. The lights are turned by the police, and I guess the victim is sitting in a squad car and makes the identification. The suspect was not paraded for the media’s pleasure but for ID purposes only.
Chris
Goodness; doesn’t Houston have a couple of bath houses? Better them at 1:00 AM than this risky stuff.
Roy Lewis
Good looking guy too!
Giancarlo85
@aliengod: You would know. Craigslist just happens to have a really bad reputation, but this could happen even on dating websites.
BigG
you just have to be much more selective. honestly it’s safer to meet married men because they’re not really looking to get caught so they’re not going to do anything crazy. that guy looks like a thug straight up. What did the other guy expect?
BigG
you can tell from people pictures if they’re pretty much trash or not and that guy looks like trash
Eldred
@Aromaeus: Seriously! Why the cute ones always have to be crazy?!
SportGuy
@BigG: Exactly!

Guy in the picture is sexy tho. Bad that happened

He is Extremely attractive!!…a lot of Gays would give their life to spend an hour with him….
Kangol
Sounds like the whole thing was a robbery set up, only the perp didn’t get away. Glad he was caught. Ugly or attractive, he’s a criminal.
Xzamilio
@balehead: It ain’t that serious. The thirst must be so real, it’s playing IMAX theaters.
youarekiddingme
@MarionPaige: What is a “Perp Walk”? Is that some new-fangled legal type term? Never heard of it? If what you are actually talking about is the LEGAL term called a Suspect Elimination, whereby the victim is brought to the location where the possible suspect is located and the victim looks at the possible suspect to eliminate him before he is formally charged with that crime? Is that what you are referring to? Btw, unless you couldn’t tell by the writing above, that is totally legal.
Wasting resources when no one was hurt? Well let’s see…He pulled a gun (Felony Assault), Stole A Car (Car Jacking–Felony) and Stole a Phone (Larceny–Misdemeanor). What would you have the police use their “resources” on? Should the police not thoroughly investigate the crime/scene so that at trial they won’t be criticized by media for doing a sloppy half-assed job? Should they just wait until he actually shoots somebody, then bitch because they didn’t catch him the first time? You want him to commit another crime with a gun–Armed Robbery, Murder, etc.? Just because no gun was found doesn’t mean there was no gun involved either, so don’t try to use that argument either.
As to the chase. Yes, police chases are dangerous. It was after 1am. Traffic is light at that time of the morning. Not even the bar crowd out yet. They weren’t chasing the man for jay-walking, or simply stealing a car. He was being chased for the GUN CRIME and having used it to assault the victim.
Remember, you can play “Monday Morning Quarterback” if you like, but the police had the information on the gun and the crimes committed…violent felony. They reacted the way most of society would have wanted them to react.
You would have really bitched if the story would have read: “Cops Do Nothing When Gay Man Gets Car Jacked by Craig’s List Acquaintance in Parking Lot”
Will Moor
@youarekiddingme: “You would have really bitched if the story would have read: “Cops Do Nothing When Gay Man Gets Car Jacked by Craig’s List Acquaintance in Parking Lot”
No she wouldn’t have. She always speaks out against the gay people in these stories. That headline probably would have made her giggle with glee.
jason smeds
If I were to meet this random stranger, I would kiss his toes no matter how vile he was.
Kamuriie
“Nothing had transpired up to that point in terms of the sex act,” **Smith added that .”** Bizarre writing!

Is there something about the name “Leroy” that makes guys go bad? Is it a form of “Boy Named Sue” complex?
Stache99
@youarekiddingme: Agreed. The cops did a great job.
Stache99
@balehead: Sadly you’re probably right. Good personalities and fun don’t really matter to allot. Just comes down to are you hot or not.
Stache99
@BigG:I totally agree with you. I could see this trash walking a mile a way. He probably talks in Ebonics too. Yo yo ditty yo kind of shit.
Rude Drew
I met my BF on CL. Been together for 2 years. First thing he asked me when we met was if I was going to kill him or not hahaha. Love that guy
Markajv
@Aromaeus: WTF? Anybody commenting how “Goodlooking” this asshat is sounds like a 13 yr old fangirl on YouTube defending their homophobic boy crushes, No wonder I never fit into the “Gay Community” You’re all idiots that think with your dicks!

You know why he is smiling don’t you? It is because he knows he is about to be in a sea of D in prison. 😉

@Stache99: “I could see this tr*sh walking a mile a way. He probably talks in Eb*n!cs too. Yo yo ditty yo kind of s–t.”
It took you a whole day to weigh in with that predictable [email protected] bull—t? You’re off your game.
[Funny, I keep getting blocked for quoting YOUR language.]

@darkanser: High speed chase!
Markajv
@Eldred: Why do the guys who think the criminals are good looking always end up being mental?
Billy Budd
Of course he is good looking. He should be, in order to better attract his victims.
tjr101
I wouldn’t be surprised if this guy is straight. There are many straight young men that will use their looks to lure gay men on websites such as craigs list or a sex app to take advantage and gain some financial reward.
Markajv
@youarekiddingme: A perp walk, or walking the perp,is a common custom of American law enforcement, the practice of taking an arrested suspect through a public place at some point after the arrest, creating an opportunity for the media to take photographs and video of the event. See the picture? see the video? Perp Walk!
Markajv
Gay, Straight, Male, Female, Craigslist, Grindr, Tinder etc….People get robbed, raped, drugged, catching std’s..MURDERED by hooking up with strangers. It happens all the fucking time.AND no the internet is not a “Dangerous” way of practicing that. It also happens picking up someone anywhere! Are you THAT fucking horny that you would just go meet, or worse, go to/have someone come to your house?? Do yourself a favor and beat off. Your life is not worth it.
Rude Drew
@Markajv:
LoL – I guess you could just never leave your house again….

@Markajv: I see you went to Wikipedia. Well I got the rest of the article which states that the court also says that it’s totally LEGAL and it’s done when the person is brought between the police station and the court and promotes “transparency” according to the court.
What they did last night, AGAIN, was by legal definition, called a SHOW UP. Please look that definiton up. Perhaps in a legal book of some sort? You may be enlightened…who knows?
Here’s the rest of your article from Wikipedia that you “conveniently” left out from your above quotation (btw, it’s not good to directly quote from a source and not at lease use quotation marks to indicate souch)!: “The perp walk arose incidentally from the need to transport a defendant from a police station to court after arrest, and the general prohibition of prior restraint under the U.S. Constitution’s First Amendment. Law enforcement agencies often coordinate with the media in scheduling and arranging them. It has been criticized as a form of public humiliation that violates a defendant’s right to privacy and is prejudicial to the presumption of innocence, but is defended as promoting transparency in the criminal justice system. American courts have permitted it on the grounds that it arises from the limitations and necessity of police procedure, but have also limited it only to those times when it is actually necessary.”
Markajv
@Rude Drew: Why would you never leave your house? Because of a specific action? YOLO? True and I want mine to be extremely fun, safe, adventurous, meaningful, etc…. I do not hook up. What’s wrong with that? I make up for it in other ways….(hehehe)
SonOfKings
Damn he’s hot!
