According to archives from the now defunct Chicago gay paper, Outlines – which later merged Windy City Times – Obama, during his 1996 Senatorial run, supported same-sex marriage, a summation based on the fact that Obama opposed a ban on gay marriage, which has long been his stance. I think this would backfire massively for McCain (at least, I hope it would; I might be giving too much credit to Americans). It would be a blatant example of Republicans dividing the country, which would make for great rehtoric for the Democrats.

It’s too late to try this in certain areas of the country. There are demographics that it will probably work on though. It’s going to look desperate at this point to people who know how to read or are attracted to dreamy Anderson Cooper.
