Barack Obama laid the smack down on former Preacher man Jeremiah Wright earlier this afternoon.
Calling Wright’s National Press Club appearance a “performance,” Obama made his harshest disavowal of Wright since the scandal first broke a billion years ago.
What Rev. Wright said yesterday directly contradicts everything I have ever done or said in my life. Whatever relationship I had with Rev Wright has changed as a result of this.
…
The person I saw yesterday was not the person I met 20 years ago.
The real problem with Wright isn’t so much his comments and spotlight grabbing, but the fact that Obama keeps indulging the media with press conferences and long-winded denouncements. Obama, just put this behind you. You can’t fight for the presidency is you’re defending yourself, babe.
Wonkette has a blow-by-blow of Obama’s press conference.
Charley
As a strong Obama supporter, I couldn’t be more delighted to read Obama slam Wright. The three misguided afrocentric bloggers who stood up for Wright, Mr. C, Afrogaupo, Tom) LOL How do you like dem apples. You can put your tambourines away now boys, your minstrel show with the bigmouthed pastor is over. LOL
emb
While part of me wishes he would have done this three weeks ago, another (better) part is gratified that a candidate for president can show moderation and avoid emotional, knee-jerk reactions. He tried being understanding, he tried the high road; when that just didn’t work and the “reverend” insisted on grandstanding and self-promotion, he let him have it with both barrels.
JM
I agree with you completely, EMB.
A “Sister Souljah Moment” was long overdue, and now deservedly so, after Wright threw Obama under the bus.
Tom
I don’t tknow if there is more than one Tom posting here, but this Tom never wrote anything in support of Rev. Wright. The only comments I wrote was that Obama should not be demonized by something someone else said. Just as I wrote that Hillary should not be blamed for the “pansy” comment.
It is unfortunate this mess continues to distract us from making an intelligent decision at the polls so that the real issues that effect us are addressed by a true progressive democrat.
BTW, I believe Wright is a narcissist, like most holier-than-thou zealouts are. And you can never trust anyone who believes he or she is doing the work of god. Just ask all the victims of the current Judeo-Christian-Islamic world war.

The larger point is that it’s not just Rev. Wright’s egg on Obama’s face but Obama’s egg on Obama’s face. It’s a question of judgment; of being afraid to make a decision until forced to.
Obama wrote in his first book years ago about Wright warning him WHEN THEY FIRST MET two decades ago that he might hurt Obama’s political ambitions. More than a year ago, the “New York Times” and other papers were wondering whether Wright’s wrongs would stain Obama who had talked repeatedly of how much an influence Wright was on him. January of last year, after some of Wright’s controversial remarks began to be talked about, he disinvited Wright from an invitation to give a prayer at the huge rally formally announcing his candidacy.
And after the absurdity last month that he’d never heard over 20 years Wright say any of the scalding things burning up the airwaves then—a claim MSM and others lapped up like milk—today he denied that the man he’d praised for getting him to finally join a church, married him, baptized his children, blessed his house he’d bought with help of Rezco, earlier said “has talked with me about faith and family and my relationship to Godâ€â€”today he claimed Wright, “Wright “was never my, quote/unquote spiritual adviser, he was never my spiritual mentor, he was my Pastor.â€
He was right to denounce Wright, but he was wrong not to have done it long ago. Why he didn’t is something that Wright hit square on the head—despite his protestations to the contrary Obama’s a politician first and last.
Next up: Jeremiah Wright playing Effie in an all male production of “Dreamgirls.” “And I am telling you I’m not going……………..”
Bitch Republic
Nice to see that Obama will do anything to get elected, like drive over his long-time friends with the bus and then back up over them.

I don’t know where to start.
Start reading realclearpolitics.com as another source for politics. it is a site that compiles all major articles from a variety of sources. it consistently posts all available polls as well and summarizes them nicely. as such it posts both liberal and conservative articles for you to view. great format. one of many blogs i read daily.
i know that some of you blew off larry sinclair, but lately things with him and his pursuits to reveal the truth have gotten very interesting.
you can find more at,
http://larrysinclair0926.wordpress.com/
i truly believe that this story will be coming out.
the chicago pd is investigating the links that may exist between the murders of three gay members of obama’s church and the alleged contacts that were made by one of the murdered to larry sinclair. all three gay members were murdered in similar gangland style executions in their apartments in apparent robberies. that alone is a bit coincidental. all three murdered within days of each, all three gay members of the wright church and all three murdered similarily.
patrick fitgerald may also be involved as the attorney general in illinois. he is a rising star as attorney generals go.
stay tuned. there are too many coincidences. more information can be found on the larry sinclair site linked above.
Mr C
As for that Larry Sinclair story that shit has no validity at all.
There will not be any investigation. That is why the story was resurrected in Puerto Rico and not on the mainland. He was interviewed in PR and the journalist that interviewed him didn’t believe it.
So it’s dead in the water! once it lands here on the mainland.

Ms Leland “The fuzzy wuzzy SNOW QUEEN”
No matter how much you pull these crazed facts up about Obama trying to make Blacks think racism never existed and they also was down with the Tuskegee Project.
You silly Hater! That’s sad
HILLARY CLINTON might get the nod. And win this battle due to the super delegates.
Trust Obama won’t fight it so he won’t be Effie reincarnated.
Like I said she will be ON COURSE to surely lose in Nov and TRUST ME She will lose!
And then she will continue to pray with the Family and next to Sen Brownback who is a #1 HOMOHATER…Such a damn hypocrite
This is will be a Aug and Nov to remember!

Now all the right wingers are saying Obama threw Wright under the bus for political gain. Whatever. The Clintonistas are working this one big time.

Charley:
That you show such glee is utterly lost on me and apparently you either skim what I write or you don’t understand it. I concur with Tom that Wright’s behavior was utterly narcissistic and obnoxious and perhaps payback for his “perceived slight that Barack threw him under the bus (the loony uncle that you tolerate” reference) as posited by Bob Herbert in Times. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/29/opinion/29herbert.html?_r=1&hp&oref=slogin
I have stated repeatedly that there is a double standard whereby Wright’s comments are imputed and attributed to BHO as though BHO co-authored them whereas with white politicians and their pastors or religious affiliations, people can parse words and actions and make all sorts of distinctions between these pastors and the candidate or president in question. I have also stated that in this age of digital information and immediate access that I find it strange that people get caught up in Goddaman AmeriKKKa 30-second clips (making blanket assumptions) without finding out actual context. I mentioned that Wright was actually quoting Ambassador Peck as to why foreigners hate us under the notion, you reap what you sow and that you cannot commit atrocities or trangressions (apartheid, looking askance at or being complicit in the ill-treatment of palestinians, pillaging Native Americans of their land and decimating their population and turning them into the Maori of North America as opposed to New Zealand, condoning, sanctioning and building your country on the backs of slaves for centuries, bombing of Panamanian civilian communinities (incidentally, part of my family is from there), etc.) and not expect those things to somehow be revisited upon you, essentially karma. I looked up the speech to find out why he was stating Goddamn America and found it quite quickly and thought many would do the same. I don’t find his statements that controversial or unconsionable but then again, I am a northerneastern-bred liberal born and raised outside NYC in the leafy suburbs by parents who instilled in my sister and me to question everything and everyone and not just accept what’s been stated as fact. I also said that while I found some of Wright’s views anachronistic, I understood that he may have felt the way he did given his age and his experiences (trenchant segregation, lack of opportunity, etc.) but that he didn’t appreciate how much progress we’ve made and that society wasn’t static/fixed. With respect to the controversial views (AIDS being spread by the government), I said that unfortunately due to past (Tuskeegee) and not that long ago and present incidents (e.g., sterilization programs, putting sludge on the lawns of poor blacks without disclosing potential harmful effects and experiments the South African government tried against blacks during apartheid) that some blacks feel that this country is more than capable of doing nefarious things given historical precedent. Charley, I believe you are approaching 70 and I think it’s nigh time that you exhibit conduct becoming an elderly and wiser man. I am frankly fatigued by having to defend myself constantly when you have people on here who act like they’ve stopped taking their bipolar meds and scream all sorts of obscenities, half-truths and distorted or unreliable kernels of supposed information. You should be chastising them. Capisce? La lucha continua. Regards, Afro.

The site is having difficulty posting my posts. I sent a reply but it hasn’t appeared yet. Suffice it to say Charley, your arguments lack substance and as usual, are never incisive.
