Sean Delonas must have drawer’s block.
The NY Post cartoonist has taken two shots at pregnant trans man Thomas Beatie. The first came back in April, when Beatie first burst on the scene. And now, inspired by news of Beatie’s forthcoming delivery date, Delonas again turned his attention to the baby daddy.
Too bad Delonas couldn’t stretch his imagination, huh?
Midtowner
Well it is funny…As a gay man I find the whole thing crazy. Leave to the mixed up trannies or lesbians to make us look like freaks…thanks!
fredo777
This latest one’s about as funny as it is original.
So, yeah…
villager
midtowner- as a gay man, you should not be judging anyone. there are people who call you a freak b/c they don’t understand your feelings and attraction to other men. who cares how folks identify themselves????
Midtowner
Villager – In an ideal world you are absolutely correct, but as you know we dont live in one. So why set yourself up for this and when it comes be all up in arms? Also, you know as well as I do, as soon as the baby comes or they get married they’re going to split up (as they always do) and it will just look bad on us again…come on..you know Im right…
Vinman
I certainly hope he did not get paid for the cartoon again. In high school you would never get credit for turning in the same thing twice. Let alone the fact it is in bad taste.
Joe
to the doctors in the cartoon… couldnt he have a c-section?
Tintin Malfoy
I’m surprised Delonas hasn’t drawn Beatie giving birth to a sheep. Like we need more proof that Delonas hasn’t any intelligent, imaginative or humorous ideas.
villager
of course it’s not an ideal world, but you can either choose to work towards a more accepting world, or you can join the haters, and call those who you don’t understand freaks.
the cartoon is ignorant, and i realize that no matter what, there will always be haters. i’m sure they were well aware of possible repercussions when they started snapping pictures. i’m sure they knew that sharing their lives with people who are genuinely interested also meant sharing their lives with haters. i’m not surprised at the cartoons, and the uproar that surrounded this… but i am surprised at the number of haters that came from within the GLBT community.
and i’m not even going to touch on the lunacy of the comment that when the baby comes, or they get married they’re going to split.
Kid A
It’s doubly stupid because Beatie has a vagina.
Midtowner
Villager – not a hater at all, just a realist…
And “and iââŹâ˘m not even going to touch on the lunacy of the comment that when the baby comes, or they get married theyââŹâ˘re going to split”
Come on, you seen it, all the big militant lesbians fighting so hard to get married then splitting up…Not hating, but seriously you know it doesnt help…
Stop giving our people a pass, if your gonna take a stand, then take a stand..handle the repercussions and make it work otherwise STFU…
(not you villager, I enjoy the conversation đ )
SeaFlood
… what does it matter whether people who fight for marriage are in them themselves? Ridiculous argument — sorry.
Midtowner
Maybe, but again in the real world people see this and it tends to invalidate our cause. Yes, it sucks, and people shouldnt think that way but we do a disservice to ourselves if we dont acknowledge it….
Miss Understood
They should live their lives differently because of how it makes YOU look? That is a stupid and celf centered argument. I”m sure the “Christians” think butt fuckers like you are making Americans look bad.
Honestly, the more people are exposed to different kinds of people the faster they get used to it. The more extreme all the better. Change actually happens pretty fast. Look at the last hundred ears.
Midtowner
Miss Understood did I say I felt this way…hmmm, I said we should acknowledge that people do, and be prepared for the repercussions…To ignore that this happens is detrimental. Also, to state a fact that well publicized lesbians make a lot of noise about getting married then divorce quickly is foolish…come on
rory
ââŹĹStop giving our people a pass, if your gonna take a stand, then take a stand..handle the repercussions and make it work otherwise STFUââŹÂŚĂ˘âŹÂ
ââŹĹWell it is funnyââŹÂŚAs a gay man I find the whole thing crazy. Leave to the mixed up trannies or lesbians to make us look like freaksââŹÂŚthanks!ââŹÂ
You are such a backwards hater that it isnââŹâ˘t even funny.
Who exactly are ââŹĹour peopleââŹÂ? The mixed up trannies? The militant lesbians? Or just the self-hating queens who give homophobes a pass like you?
Tim
I can’t believe this non-story still makes news. ‘Bearded lady gives birth’. Who cares?
Midtowner
Oh Rory, no Self Hate here…Just tired of the crazies, and if you cant see that there are some then your blind. It was the Trannies who runied ENDA for us (umm that would be all of us, even themselves), Miltant lesbians who bull doze for marriage only to divorce…come on. Im not a hater, or self hating just not Blind…Not everyone who speaks for us helps, not everyone who is on TV represents us well…Good lord.
I guess even with us (yes us) its bad to say the Emporer has no clothes….
Nate
Midtowner-
People should be allowed to speak as they wish. Just because you consider them “crazies” doesn’t mean they have any less right to marriage or speech than you do. Saying “the trannies” are the ones who “ruined ENDA for us” is just hateful and ignorant.
Midtowner
Nate – I wholeheartedly agree that everyone has the right to Marry and to speak there mind…Im not trying to take that away from anyone… And Trannies, god love em, did bring about an end to ENDA because they felt they werent included and brought pressure on organizations to pull they’re support…I have a right to believe this, I saw it happen…and Im not being hateful or ignorant, in fact Im very loving and educated on these matters, just like many many people…
There are somethings wrong with our movement, its not all perfect, and I dont think anything is wrong with bringing up…
Peace…
Eclipse
Are we seriously still discussing ENDA?
The contentious part of ENDA was “gender expression” which means if YOU midtowner or any other gay man 1) speaks too effeminately 2) walks too effeminately 3) acts otherwise in a way his boss doesn’t think is “gender appropriate” then he could be fired. It isn’t about trans-people- it’s about all people and how gender is represented in our society. If I chose not to wear a skirt to work or to cut my hair, my boss could fire me. How equal is that?
Or does my opinion not matter because I am a “militant lesbian” who can’t make up my mind. . . ?
lucking
It’s funny.
Yeah, he/she has a vagina, but that’s not how the story is being sold at the headlines.
Midtowner
Yes, Eclipse your opinion does matter, just like mine… And we may disagree on the demise of ENDA, Trannie activism, Militant Lesbianism..and transgendered men/women having babies…but isnt that ok? We dont all think alike. But again my point is there are things that arent right in our movement and I have a right to say what I dont like…Im part of this too…
RPCV
With freaks like Beatie, meth-head twinks, and queens at gay pride events it’s no reason gays, as a community, are not taken seriously. If I were a member of Congress I wouldn’t support ENDA either; with the loony ways we portrary ourselves we don’t deserve equal/special rights. Just a thought……..
Miss Understood
You have a right to say what you want and everyone here has a right to tell you it is stupid, backwards, small minded, etc. No one who is disagreeing with you is trampling on your rights. Is anyone petitioning Queerty to silence you?
Who cares if lesbians get divorced? Straight people can get hitched in Vegas and divorced the next week. This is about equal rights, not proving how perfect ones relationship is. I can acknowledge that idiots exist, I don’t have to pander to them. If you feel you must pander to the right wing the you are the right wing.
RPCV
Dear Mx. Understood: What the fuck are you talking about???
Progression
For trans-inclusive ENDA to succeed, I believe that transitioned men and women must come out. Invisibility of the demographic would mean that trans-inclusion is just an idea. The notion that transitioned men and women should just blend into society is, imho, misguided. As people become more aware of this demographic, they begin to study ways to identify its members in the populace. Short of DNA resequencing of every organ and system in the body, the transition is never 100%. There is always some flaw, some inconsistency that waits to be discovered. So then, why not be out and proud of who you are, as imperfect as we all are.
REBELComx
If they want to have a baby, let them. It’s their choice what to do with their bodies and it’s not hurting anyone. Would you mock them for deciding to have an abortion too? And how dare you hypocrites blame transgendered people for preventing ENDA. Next you’ll be blaming Drag queens and the really effeminate. Pride is about coming to terms with your community history. To blame them is to bury all their lives and accomplishments beneath a layer of cruel ignorance.
As for the cartoon, it just proves that this guy is a very bad, lazy cartoonist (as I have always thought). He used the exact same joke in the exact same layout (only reversed). Totally unoriginal, lazy, and actualy quite boring, let alone ignorant. Sure he can draw. But he’s got about as much originality and creativity as a common garden slug.
Midtowner
OMG did you not read what I said, nothing against Trannies. They didnt derail ENDA because they were Transexual — they mounted a concerted effort to have groups pull there support from the bill, thats how they killed it scheesh… Stop your knee jerk reaction and look at things logically…
Stop attacking my PRIDE, or calling me self hating, or unsympathetic because I said something..your sounding like George Bush when we questioned the war he questioned our patriotism…
Peace people đ
