This just in: Ryan Murphy is being honored with his very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, joining the ranks of several other iconic LGBTQ celebrities, including Ellen Degeneres, Elton John, and Nathan Lane.
The out television trailblazer will have his prestigious floor tile unveiled next week. The ceremony will be held December 4. RuPaul, Shonda Rhimes, Taraji P. Henson, and Jennifer Lawrence are all expected to attend.
It’s a fitting end to what has been a pretty amazing year for the 52-year-old producer/director/writer, who received rave reviews for the first season of his latest series, Pose, took home several Emmys for The Assassination of Gianni Versace, and was named one of GQ‘s men of the year.
Also this year, Murphy also took home the esteemed Trailblazer award. During his acceptance speech, he told the crowd he almost gave up on his Hollywood dream after he was told he was “too weird, too faggy, too unusual.”
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
“My mannerisms and voice were mocked by executives in meetings,” he said.
Well, it looks like he definitely got the last laugh.
Congrats, Mr. Murphy!

Why are we afraid to be to ‘too’? Hollywood will always adjust.

So well earned. He’s my Hollywood hero. Thank you for continuing to make excellent entertainment with LGBT characters without making it “about” LGBT issues.
