Log Cabin Republican president Patrick Sammon warns his party peers not to push gay marriage this year: “Acceptance of loving, committed gay and lesbian couples is on the rise and, consequently, the marriage debate does not have the same heat it used to. Republicans who try exploiting the issue for political gain this November will fail. And they’ll further alienate the young people who are already leaving the GOP in droves… So, a word to my fellow Republicans: If we choose the politics of fear and division that helped defeat our party in 2006, we will alienate the independent voters who will decide this election. We will suffer an even bigger defeat in 2008.” [Politico]

I do so hope you suffer a bigger defeat than 2006, which could have been worse, by the way. I hope the electorate hands you your ass on a platter and that the GOP remains a true minority party for decades. I’ve come the the conclusion that the only good Republican is a dead Republican. With a stake driven through its heart, just to be sure.

It’s heartwarming that this scumbag cares so deeply about the Gay community. I’m sure if he thought anti-Gay rhetoric would win Republicanazi votes, he’d be all for it. Disgusting.

While my feelings on Repubs are decidedly less intense than Bob’s R + P, I do hope their candidate loses in Nov.
If for no other reason than to stick it in Stephen Baldwin’s face.

Gay Republicans = losers
McCain has a horrible record on gay rights and has endorsed the anti-gay marriage brigade in California and Arizona. Just how different is McCain from the average GOP candidate? He’s the standard not exception.
The GOP has been against LGBT rights for 30 years as part of their national strategy. Of late, the hateful wedge used against blacks has been directed towards gays.
blake
Irony of course is that the Log Cabin Republicans are part of a party that has fought tooth and nail against gay rights, including gay marriage. Yet the gay Republicans continue to stay part of a party that shuns them and works actively to oppress them.
How many gay Republicans will take advantage of laws fought for by liberals? Where would those gay Republicans be without liberals? Certainly not free to live openly gay.

Blake: Liberals haven’t given gays anything. Am I missing something???

Just point to the most RABID homobigot “man-on-dog” SANTORUM going down in flames in 2006.
God I love, love, love the photo of Santorum being beaten badly and his fugly fat sniveling children Wednesday and Pugsley.

How ’bout just not being a Repub in the first place?

I’ve never voted for a Republican. I have no intention of doing so now.
Charley
What Republican would listen to him. Logs don’t give enough money to candidates to have any say.
What a joke.
Brian Miller
Wow, so both the Democrats and Republicans are busy telling us they’re not going to focus on gay marriage this year.
That’s some courage there.
Tom
Brian, don’t you think there are more serious issues than gay marriage for this national election? Do you seriously think Democrats can win in the South and Midwest by focusing on gay marriage? Of course I support gay marriage (I’m in a binational relationship), but I am not so self-absorbed to think that gay marriage is more important than other pressing issues like the economy, war, health care, environment, etc.
Alan down in Florida
Mark – please don’t deflect your well deserved condemnation of Santorum onto his kids. That’s just uncalled for – it’s not their fault that Daddy is an asshole.
eethry
Actually if I’m right, I think it’s the republicans who won last time focusing on gay marriage, distracting people from other situations.
Gay republicans make no sense, I thought repubs were suppose to be about family, and doesn’t a wedding mark and produce a foundation needed for a stable environment to raise children.
Repub’s mind = You know all the things we’re going through is actually Bill Clinton’s fault.
I’m so sick of it, now they’ll attack the immigrants next and cause the people to vote for McSame through tactics of fear.
cambel
To all of you on here slamming this guy, remember Log Cabin repubs twice would not endorse Bush and they have not endorsed McCain. Although i’m not a member and an Obama supporter some of the rabid responses on here are frankly a bit freaky.

sorry the hatred Santorum generated won’t all fit neatly into just his generation, I’d hate his fugly great grandparents too
