Activist Runs Across Brooklyn Bridge In Heels For Ali Forney Center

On Saturday, Duke University student Jacob Tobia raised more than $10,000 for the Ali Forney Center, the New York shelter for LGBT homeless youth that was devastated by Hurricane Sandy. But he didn’t hold a walkathon or bake sale—he ran across the Brooklyn Bridge in five-inch stilettos.

In the clip below, Tobia explains to MSNBC’s Thomas Roberts why he decided to make his  historic sashay across the bridge.:”December 15th marks the five-year anniversary of my coming out to my family,” he shares, “and I figured that there was no better way to celebrate it than to give back to youth who have not had it as easy as I have.”
