Jim Croce may not have been the most attractive gentleman, but this Philadelphia-born boy sure could sing. Sadly, Croce died in 1973 at the tender age of 30. Thanks to the wonders of YouTube, however, this performance of “You Don’t Mess Around With Jim” lives on. So does “Operator,” after the jump…

Oh, man. We were just talking about him the other day. “Operator” is still one of my all-time favorite songs. I have a gigantic softspot for those wuss rock 70′s ballads.
