“A qualitative survey just released by the Los Angeles based multicultural market research company New American Dimensions shows that African-American and Hispanic gays and lesbians overwhelmingly consider themselves to be members of at least two minority groups: one defined by sexual orientation and the other defined by race or ethnicity. Lesbians face discrimination on an additional front, as women. To which group do they really belong? Many respondents suggested that they feel comfortable in no traditional group at all… Both Black and Hispanic gays and lesbians confessed they felt at odds with the “gay community,” which many said is very Caucasian in its focus. As a result, these gays and lesbians of color often prefer to develop their own small, personal, multicultural communities.” [Earth Times]

Geez, I can’t understand why any person of color wouldn’t feel welcomed by the big tent of the Gay community. Hmm… Maybe it’s because some of us really are hateful ignorant crackers. See above for example.

What would menses-ir, the alleged ‘only into straight guys’ assbag, know about self-respect?
The gay “community” is indeed largely engineered to fit a white, liberal and affluent ideal: you should dress a certain way, listen to certain (crappy) music, never vote anything but Democrat (but gods forbid you don’t vote), shop and live at certain places, donate to HRC (or at least pretend you do by sporting the sticker), and pretend that ethnicity and upbringing don’t matter when you’re an adult.

Is it “Men-Sir” or “Men-sar”? The name keeps changing! Wasn’t it just last week that the racist got banned from Towleroad for stating that gays were not equal to straights?
As for his bold racism, gee, how unsurprising!
But, this post’s subject is, of course, ironic given that Queerty continues to allow racist trolls to post here. What does that say about Queerty?
Queerty Staff,
Why do you not take a stand against people like Church-nazi or this other idiot? Most sites have terms of service against hate speech. But you don’t why?
CHURCHILL-Y
What a bunch of crock!, then goes on to say;
“Both” “felt at odds with the “gay community”
Boy is that an understatement. How about they stop undermining all the efforts for advancement the Gay community tries to pursuit! Stop putting your race at the forefront of Gay rights if you want to be a part of the Gay community at large and stop siding and making excuses for black homophobes and anti-Gay bigots just because they share your same skin color and you’ll see how you won’t find yourselves at odds with the community.
Hell even I would have to swallow my contempt for some if the attitudes of so-called black Gays changed, but hell will freeze before that happens because they’re fixated with their race and in reality in their own communities of color we’re not so brutally anti-Gay and homophobic they wouldn’t even be trolling blogs like these ones.
That’s why they really need to develop their own
Prides and clubs and such in that respect they are no different than those attending a hateful church such as Obama’s Trinity. The need to feel superior and different than whitey far outweighs their gayness.

>and if in reality in their own communities of color were not so brutally anti-Gay and homophobic<

Churchill-Y:
Lemme see if I understand this… You have contempt for certain people’s attitudes, because they won’t change.
And then you go and bash them and their choices because they don’t want to hang out with the likes of you?
****tard.
