Retiring Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) is making preparations for his wedding to partner Jim Ready this summer, when he’ll become the first sitting Congressman in a same-sex marriage.
And though he’s appreciative of the President’s support for marriage equality, the straight-shooting politico, 71, tells C-SPAN he’s not putting the Obamas on the invite list.
“I would be flattered to have the President, but it would ruin the party to have the Secret Service. I’m not critical of them, but they can go take their layered protection of the President somewhere else. Not to my party.”
That’s our Barney: Frisky to the end.
it’s not like it’s a state wedding or anything.
he has every right to want the event to be about him and his fiancé.
if the prez were there, it would be about media, security, the prez, his wife, etc…

When it comes to parties the gay guys always know the right thing to do. :)

And no fucks were given that day.
As if the Obamas care about his wedding, knew about it, or wanted to go to it. Ha.

Barney Frank is an idiot and I remember when he was a total closet queen and married to a woman.

@Belize: Riiight, any reason you’re so upset by my comment? You’re the one coming off sour and butthurt. No one was talking to or about you.
@DMI: LOL, what? Who are you and why don’t you have a life? Taking inventory of people posting anonymously on a blog as if it’s a place in real life is pathetic. Why are you so mad about a comment on a blog that wasn’t about you?
Both of you need to find a hobby.

Barney Frank has always had a problem with transsexuals and African Americans.
He does not want a Black president at his wedding. Until this man comes to grip with his transphobia and racism he will still be the Barney many of us no from the ENDA battle. Who would want to be at his wedding anyway.
