We were trying to come up with a gay-wedding playlist for couples in New York, D.C., Iowa and the other areas where homos can legally get hitched. So we consulted our friend, pop singer/producer/DJ Keo Nozari who burns the floor at New York’s Club 57, Rockit, G Lounge and elsewhere. Nozari recently released his newest album, Love Boutique, as well as a new remix collection, Acceptable 2 U: The Remixes (Part 2), that’s available on iTunes. Always one step ahead, he gave us a list of song suggestions for different styles of weddings. (Note: These songs are also great if you can only get civilly unionized or symbolically bound.)
For the Modernist
“Just the Way You Are,” Bruno Mars
“When Love Takes Over,” David Guetta feat. Kelly Rowland
“I’m Into Something Good,” Bird & the Bee
For the Traditionalist
“Wedding March,” Felix Mendelssohn (Royal Wedding Orchestra Remix)
“Canon in D,” Johann Pachelbel
“Bewitched, Bothered & Bewildered,” Ella Fitzgerald
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
For The Retro Queen
“We are Family,” Sister Sledge
“Lovely Day,” Bill Withers
“Your Song,” Elton John
“You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real),” Sylvester
“Faith,” George Michael
“From this Moment,” Shania Twain
“Just a Kiss,” Lady Antebellum
“Vision of Love,” Mariah Carey
“I’ll Be There,” Jackson 5
“Your Love is King,” Sade
“Love You Madly,” Cake

Haven’t really thought much about it, since we’re skeptical of the prospects for marriage equality in our state during our lifetimes. Even if it does happen, I’m not sure we’d bother having a wedding ceremony & reception. If we did bother, it would likely be something very simple since we doubt either of our families would attend. Our friends mainly consist of my partners mostly Roman Catholic college friends and people from his fraternity that we see maybe once or twice a year – holidays and the one football game we attend irregularly from my partner’s Alma Mater. The former are unlikely to attend a same-sex wedding because of their religion, and the latter aren’t local, making their attendance similarly unlikely. That leaves my partner’s bowling partners (it’s a gay league), and a couple of my former co-workers – straight women we play Euchre with quarterly. That really is the sum total of my list of people I would call ‘friends’. We don’t socialize otherwise. Neither one of us likes crowds; we basically have to really force ourselves to attend the few social events that we do take in during the year.
So I can’t exactly see us springing for a DJ. If we did, there is one song that would definitely be on the play list:
Savage Garden: I knew I loved you before I met you

What? No techno? WTF?!
