Gay Families Really Do Nix The ‘Traditional’ Aspect Of Parenting, Don’t They?

Researchers found more equality in parenting roles in same-sex relationships than they did in hetero ones, with both fathers or both mothers adopting the “traditional” gender role duties of housework and cooking, or breadwinning and nurturing. “It is not uncommon for the biological capacity of mothers – childbearing, breastfeeding, nurturing – to be used as the rationale for women’s more limited participation in the workforce and their primary role as homemaker,” says Jennifer Power, of La Trobe University, one of the study’s co-authors. And it is not uncommon for the biological capacity of fathers to be used as the rationale for why they always step out on their wives, so there!
