Andrew Sullivan’s blog The Daily Dish spits out about two dozen posts a day. (Sort of like this blog!) Most of the items are one-line intros, paraphrasings, and links to original articles. But sometimes Andrew weighs in with original commentary. Except for today. For only the second time in the Dish‘s history, Andrew says he’s been silenced. And her name is Sarah Palin.
Not Obama. Not Hillary. And not Bush. The last time Andrew went offline, according to this blog, was September of last year. And now, as he and his three cohorts try to digest Palin’s Going Rogue, the blog has again gone quiet. Andrew explains: “This is only the second time in its nearly ten-year history that the Dish has gone silent. The reason now is the same as the reason then. When dealing with a delusional fantasist like Sarah Palin, it takes time to absorb and make sense of the various competing narratives that she tells about her life. There are so many fabrications and delusions in the book, mixed in with facts, that just making sense of it – and comparing it with objective reality as we know it, and the subjective reality she has previously provided – is a bewildering task. She is a deeply disturbed person which makes this work of fiction and fact all the more challenging to read. … We have only one commitment: to get this right. Please bear with us as we do the best we can.”
We will, Andrew. Because we know Sarah is watching.

Don’t all politicians with national goals develop their public personalities through mythic motifs of virtue, aspiration, and actualization? Look at Hitler, Bush, Obama, Kennedy, Mussolini, and yes Palin to a more limited degree. If I were a better journalist, I would analyze her alleged deceptions, but against a broader analysis. He isn’t investigating too deeply, therefore he comes across as vindictive, yellow and fanatical. His personal mistake of combining his somewhat tepid character to his work is unfortunate. The results are sloppy.

Did I say tepid? I should have said fatuous.

As nothing has come out yet, it is weird for you to pass jugements on any results before they are even offered. To say that people investigating her lies come across as vindictive and yellow would mean that any politician has the right to spew whatever story they want because anybody investigating must simply be vindictive.

To say that people investigating her lies…
So you’ve already passed “jugement.”

No, the McCain campaign has already come out and declared that several stories she told in the book are untrue, and they have released e-mails proving that.

Andrew, as a conservative bully, has helped create this sort of Republican monster. As far as I am concerned, he can go on vacation. Indefinitely.

@6 LiberalBitch:
You really live up to your name. Sullivan is on your side; he’s an Obamunist who blows with the wind. He will claim to be a conservative but when the chips are down he always supports the Democrat. Always.
Seriously, why hasn’t Turncoat Andy been deported yet? Whoever he’s sucked off to stay in this country needs to get down on his knees and pray that Barebackus Gluteus Maximus didn’t have mouth sores.
