Noted song and dance man Hugh Jackman has been plagued by gay rumors even before he pas de bourree’d to a Tony as homosexual chorus boy Peter Allen in The Boy from Oz. Now up for an Oscar for another musical, his wife of 16 years, Deborra Lee-Furness, is tired of that same old tune.
According to The Hollywood Reporter:
Despite these friends and a seemingly idyllic life, Jackman admits rumors about his sexuality have taken a greater toll than previously acknowledged, especially on his wife. “Just recently, it bugs her,” he says, blaming the Internet, which she frequents more than he does. (Jackman largely sticks to cricket sites and The Economist.) “She goes: ‘It’s big. It’s everywhere!’ “
“I have seen him with Deborra since the beginning of their trip to Hollywood, and I’ve been on five movie sets with him and have never seen him stray, have never seen him eye anyone” X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner told THR. “I met him when he did Oklahoma! [at London’s Royal National Theatre in 1999]. He was genuine, hugely talented. He was in love with his wife that day and still is.”
No doubt helping to churn the rumor mill is the fact that Furness is 13 years Jackman’s senior, but when they first met “she was thrilling to me,” he said.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
“Then, when I met Deb, it was 10 times better than my single life. She was very beautiful. She was unbelievably fun — this energy, this spirit — irrepressible. And she had a confidence in herself. I had a massive crush on her instantly.”
So there you have it. Hugh Jackman — actor, family man and acclaimed heterosexual. Let’s just hope that the union between him and his wife is as happy as that of the 20-year marriage of Kelly Preston and what’s-his-face.

I feel bad for him. He’s done nothing to deserve the doubt and suspicion that is cast on him over this. Homophobia sucks for straight people too.
AEH
I can understand why his wife would be frustrated with people constantly doubting her marriage. It’s one thing to take the rumours in good spirits, it’s quite another to constantly deal with them for years.

@redcarpet:
Really. Nothing?

This may sound harsh but, that’s showbusiness.
Don’t like it, then get out of the game.
I think questioning a celebrity’s sexuality is one of the more tame stories the media could concoct.
No one gets a free pass. Not if you’re suffering a devastating divorce, not if you’ve got a serious addiction, not even if you’re dying from a dreadful disease.
Horrible? Absolutely, but it is what it is.

If she doesn’t like the gay rumors she shouldn’t have married a fag. Just say’in.
