TEETH MARKS

Johnny Weir Splits From Victor Voronov After Tumultuous Two-Year Marriage

The scars from those bite marks are apparently never going to heal properly as Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir has announced he has split from Victor Voronov, his husband of two years.

Weir used Twitter to break the news to his fans.

weirThe two men were married December 30, 2011 and it appeared to be a happy, although occasionally tempestuous union. In an interview with Access Hollywood, Weir addressed the challenge that came with the wedding.

“Being married is an adjustment, and I’m such an OCD, solitary, confined person that it was very hard to open my life and my home and in some ways my closet to somebody else,” he said. “We both are constantly fighting to wear the pants in the relationship.”

That strain eventually began to show publicly. Last November Voronov sent a string of bullying emails to Michael Lucas after the porn producer/activist criticized Weir’s stance on Russia’s antigay legislation. Weir, a three-time U.S. figure skating champion and two-time Olympian, worked for NBC as a commentator for figure skating during the Sochi Winter Olympics, a move which frustrated many LGBT people. Earlier this month Weir and Voronov were in court to settle a domestic violence dispute after the latter filed a police report which claimed Weir had bit him in a way that was totally unwelcome. The judge eventually agreed to dismiss the case and Weir has refused to publicly comment on the incident. But it appears the damage to their relationship was more than skin deep.
