We’ve told you about Steven Petrow before. His video series on NewNextNow has cute guys, a story, and little gay etiquette lessons.
And in honor of October 11, National Coming Out Day, the author and columnist shares his Dos and Don’ts for those thinking about coming out as well as those being come out to.
Like, you just might want to think twice about doing it on Facebook, Twitter or YouTube. (Well, unless you’re this guy.) And being in a safe environment helps, too, if you think there could be some backlash.
And as the one being told: It’s easy to make a rash judgment but Steven hopes you’ll reserve that and instead offer resources for the newly out friend or loved one to turn to. (Although, if you’re reading this right now, we suspect you’ll be okay with it.)
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Hear the full chat with Steven Petrow as a part of the Swish Extra interview which includes tips for service members…and a few gripes about the death of the thank you note. (He is an etiquette guy, so we had to get that in.)
Press play to start listening…
Scott Wallis is the co-host of the Queerty/GayCities-sponsored Swish Edition comedy & interview talk show. He’s out. Waaaay out.

Sorry I came out at 11 yes 11 years old and I don’t need some old queen telling me the do’s and don’ts of coming out.
Scott
@damon459: Yeah, buddy. Because this site was made just for you. Come on…stuff like this can really help those who didn’t have the courage you had at 11.
