When Christopher, a special education teacher, and Kevin, who works at Disneyland, were married in Dana Point, Calif. in June, the two men decided to incorporate their shared love of Batman lore into their ceremony. The couple asked members of their wedding party to dress as characters (11 heroes, 11 villains) from the iconic comic book series and, naturally, they served a cake that resembled Gotham City under the spell of Mr. Freeze.
Christopher shared his memories with website OffbeatBride.com, noting how many friends and family members were in attendance.
“We ended up with 85, which is pretty huge for a gay wedding in a state where it was not legal at the time, in a very conservative county, and with conservative families,” he writes. “I will never forget what it felt like standing and greeting people as they came in… and just kept coming in!”
He adds that the couple’s officiant was responsible for the funniest moment in their ceremony. “[He] really wanted to participate in the theme, but we ran out of Batman characters for him to dress as. When he greeted us at the altar, he turned around so his back faced us, opened up his shirt, then turned back around to reveal a Superman logo under his dress shirt! It was a perfect reveal, and so absolutely fitting.”
How about we take this to the next level?

Cute, but what weren’t they dressed as Batman & Robin?

@offbeatoh86: A few guesses: Robin is generally both underage and subordinate, and legally those two are, at least traditionally, in a semi-parental relationship. Yuck all around. It’s also much less creative.

Well you can’t have Batman without villains. Looks like one side is all heroes and Batman, and the other is all villains and Mr. Freeze.
