Summer romance has blossomed into a new gay celebrity power couple, according to one defiant source who claims that Ricky Martin and Ian Thorpe are about to go public with their relationship to the Australian media.
Rumors were sparked last night and fueled on Twitter throughout the morning after Peter Ford, an Australian reporter tweeted that the alleged power couple had accepted a $500,000 deal to tell all:

Now, Peter Ford’s profile picture is an ape in makeup and he only has around 7,500 followers, but he seems to come as a credible enough source for the Daily Mail (read: maybe not credible at all).

Regardless, his rumor has forced Australian media to investigate the relationship and report it as false.
According to the Mail, a rep for Martin said “This is 100% not true. The two have never met.” Thorpe’s manager, James Erksine, told the Sydney Morning Herald: “I think someone is having you on,” and another source close to Martin says it’s complete “rubbish.”
Thorpe has notoriously tried to remain private with the media throughout his career, but told Michael Parkinson in July that he was “not straight.” Martin congratulated him on Twitter shortly after the special aired:

Ian has not tried to “Remain Private” What he did was say that being called gay was insulting blah blah blah.
Lying, and taking offense to the suggestion that you are gay isn’t being private, it’s just being self hating.

This was ridiculous from the beginning. Ricky was linked to a good bunch of men since he broke up with his boyfriend, but this is not even serious.
When the mags started to say he was dating spanish singer Pablo Alborán (wich is rumoured to be gay but not out of the closet) it was absurd, but at least there was graphical prove they knew each other. Of course the pic (tha Pablo posted online) was then together collaborating in Pablo’s new album (he said something about being a dream come true sing a duet with Ricky because he was a fan for a long time).
That was absurd because there was no way the label let Pablo come out (he is one of the very few who still sells a lot of albums in spain) and i doubt Ricky will date someone in the closet (even in the glass closet).
But this Thorpe’s nonsense is even more ridiculous. Ian came out, and Ricky tweet his support (like he always does when a celebrity comes out), and then this rumour begins because Ricky was a coach in the Voice Australia. But the truth is there’s not even a prove that they knew each other.
Thorpe had a lot of problems before his coming out, so i doubt he will be in a relationship and going public about it anytime soon
