The National Organization for Marriage's 'Storm' Ad Isn't Scary, It's HILARIOUS
 
 

The National Organization for Marriage is counting on scare tactics to convince Americans same-sex marriage is going to RUIN SOCIETY. But NOM's solemn "A Storm Is Coming" ad featuring actors repeating misleading facts is ripe for parody, and not just because the screentests of actors have popped up, but because when real storms are approaching, real storm chasers arrive. The risk is that, with these parodies, we're only giving NOM more attention it doesn't deserve. Of course we're also branding the spots as ridiculous charades, so that works.

And already, there's a web effort to keep on remixing the videos into ridiculous pieces of video pop art.

Yes! These are great! I'm using the NOM ad parodies for my final paper in a class on Digital Rhetoric. I hadn't seen the first two you posted, but they're PERFECT!!! I can't wait.

Funny, yes; practical for supporting marriage equality in middle America, no.

Since NOM has hired actors to spew their lies, lets go after the actors. Counter NOM's lies with true stories about their moral posterchildren.

There are many actors in the NOM ad and I imagine that a few have some pretty sordid pasts; find them and expose them. I compare this to outing gay homophobic lawmakers.

When marriage equality orgs plan rebuttal ads, spending a little money with private investigators would go a long way to showing what frauds NOM's spokespeople are. And checking out the backgrounds of NOM executive staff would probably reveal additional ammunition.

All's fair in love and war…so let's fight back.

The NOM Fan Page over on Facebook has been deluged with people who didn't much care for the ad. If you don't mind crowds, you can always stop by a leave a modest critique.

The great gift that the gay community has always embraced, perhaps most highly of all, is the ability to look prejudice in the eye and laugh. I am so very proud to be a part of a community that has such an indomitable sense of humor, and we may be able to use this gift to deminish the hate of homophobes, thereby making them appear just as silly as they really are.
