TRAGEDY AT SEA

UPDATE: Identity Of Man Who Jumped Overboard On Atlantis Gay Cruise Revealed

Last Friday, we reported on the unnamed man who went overboard the Allure of the Seas, the Royal Caribbean cruise ship chartered by Atlantis Events. He has now been identified as 30-year-old Kenneth John Gemmell of Bailieborough, Co Cavan, Ireland.
A witness Friday morning had seen a man intentionally leap from his balcony aboard The Allure, which heading to Cozumel, Mexico, as part of its tour of the Caribbean. Close-circuit cameras confirmed the incident and crew members began passenger checks, with the Mexican coast guard helping to search the waters.

The exact circumstances under which Gemmell, a flight attendant with UAE Airlines, went overboard aren’t clear. TheExaminer.com reports:

The family says that some information has already come their way.  One party told them that Kenneth may have been arguing with a ship’s crew member (perhaps a bartender) in one of the bars late Thursday night or early Friday morning.  They were also told that the crew member, a man they understood was sharing a room with a Canadian citizen, left the ship in Cozumel.

Gemmell’s grieving family in Ireland is hoping someone on board will come forward with more information to help bring closure to this tragedy.
