Washington State Is About To Care If You Got Gay Married Somewhere Else

washingtonmap

With Gov. Chris Gregoire’s signature, Washington State will begin recognizing out-of-state gay marriages after a bill cleared the State Senate yesterday in a 28-19 vote. Just in case your employer is forcing you to abandon Boston for Seattle, or something. The state bans recognition of (local) gay marriages through 1998′s DOMA, and gay activists there all but gave up on a ballot initiative to overturn it in 2010.

Awesome, if you got married elsewhere and came here. But I can’t get married here (Seattle). Effed up.
