Sordid tales of the casting couch, in which aspiring actors are expected to exchange sex for a shot at stardom, have been been whispered about as long as cinema has existed. Still, it’s not often that a performer speaks out publicly about the harassment he’s experienced. Handsome actor Ranveer Singh, star of Bollywood movies such as Dil Dhadakne Do and Bajirao Mastani, is lifting the veil on the unpleasant practice.
Singh said he met one man, who he doesn’t name, who offered him a chance at success in exchange for sexual favors. “When I said ‘no’ (to his demands), he acted like a jilted lover,” Singh reveals. “Later, I got to know that he does it to everyone.”

@Sebastian Holiday: It’s literally how Hollywood started. There are only about 9 billion documentaries about it but everyone pretends these guys are straight all these decades later.
I even found a picture someone posted elsewhere of Brad Pitt in some old guy’s arms on the couch before he got famous. He looked like a rent boy.
Channing Tatum can’t act a pound and was a stripper. How they pull off the “straight” stuff to some gay guys is beyond me. I can smell a gay man a mile away but I guess not everyone has the dar.

It is an old story. Even Clint Eastwood had a gay mentor, a director named Arthur Lubin, who got him all his early work at Universal, when Clint was a struggling actor. We’ll probably never get the majority of these stories, as the men are not going to talk about it.
