A group of hero gays confronted that cowardly twerp Marco Rubio about how he has more respect for the rights of guns than the rights of gays, and we couldn’t be more proud.
Rubio was hosting some kind of town hall on Tuesday about helping the businesses that were impacted by the Pulse shooting. (Apparently business tends to be slow after a mass shooting in the neighborhood. Thanks, NRA.) But about 30 protesters, including a fellow named Dave Moran, kept shouting him down.
In particular, Moran accused Rubio of having a close relationship with the NRA and not doing anything to support LGBTs. Rubio, an NRA-sponsored Senator, voted against limiting the gigantic magazines that facilitate mass shootings.
He also had the gall to insult the victims of the Pulse shooting, claiming that he’s not a homophobe. “Quite frankly I respect all people,” he said, adding, “we probably have a disagreement on the definition of marriage.”
It takes some nerve to throw in a dig at the murdered LGBT people at an event centered on their massacre. The meaning of Rubio’s statement is clear: straight people are better than queers. Gays are inferior. Those people who died didn’t deserve equal protection, and they didn’t deserve due process.
The Pulse shooting is complicated and the shooter’s motivations defy simple explanation. But anti-LGBT violence is still widespread, and it’s facilitated by demeaning comments like those still being made by Marco Rubio.
The Republican party likes to pretend that they’re on our side because they say they’d fight the regimes that put homosexuals to death. But that’s a lie. Given the option, they’d be right there on the rooftops throwing us over if they could.

I thought Dave Moran was out of line. He needs to take stock of himself.

@Brian……………”He also had the gall to insult the victims of the Pulse shooting, claiming that he’s not a homophobe. “Quite frankly I respect all people,” he said, adding, “we probably have a disagreement on the definition of marriage.”
I thought the same thing you did. I don’t see anywhere in his comment an insult to the Pulse victims. He was there helping the businesses and since things like financial disaster relief are political I thought it big of him to come. The intellect of the gay community is hitting the bottom of the barrel. It has become much too sensitive.
Brian
@Bob LaBlah: I have to agree with you. I think the movement has been hijacked by the Left which is bringing in all sorts of unrelated issues – such as gun control – to push its agenda.
Ukin
This from a man who got on his knees in front of Donald Trump after he was named “Little Marco.”
Goforit
@Brian: How DARE You! 49 innocent souls are slaughtered by a man with a gun and you claim gun control is an “unrelated issue”???? I will never understand the disconnect that goes on in the mind of a rightwing Trump supporter.
jeff1370
@Brian: Agenda? Get off this site you hetero repuke.
Brian
@Goforit: Your comment is inane. Many gay men are members of the NRA.
Mo Bro
@Brian: Indeed we are, even though that apparently makes us “bad” gays.
Harley
I just hope my 22 pistol is enough to blow my brains out if Trump is elected.

I’m not even a republican, but this is a blatantly dishonest and dramatic argument. How did he insult Pulse victims? What does his stance on gay adoption have to do with the Pulse shooting? Nothing. The protester was accusing him of being responsible for the deaths of the Pulse victims. Apparently this protester is giving Oscar Mateen a pass. Are the gay people that continue to politicize Pulse really any less slimy than homophobes?
Ukin
@Masc Pride: The world has become too complicated for you. It looks like connecting the dots is now beyond you.
Masc Pride
@Ukin: Well, please explain it then. I asked legit questions to which ad hominem seems to be the only response you can offer. I get that the writer doesn’t like Marco Rubio, but the character assassinations have nothing to do with Pulse. It’s more politicizing. Again, the protester was shouting that Rubio was a murderer while Rubio was trying to speak. Rubio responded rather respectfully given the accusation and disruption. Peaceful protests aren’t supposed to be disruptive and slanderous.
Bob LaBlah
@Harley: If you feel it necessary and something like that must be the outcome you might consider a larger caliber. Personally, I think you would be better off sitting back and watching the show like the rest of us. This election is on the level of Daffy Duck or Olive Oyl being elected president, just down right cartoonish on both sides. Disbelief is the understatement of the year this time around.
Bob LaBlah
@Masc Pride…………….Its sad that this is the second time around a gay “activist” has made an ass of themselves and made us, the gay community, look more out of touch with rambunctious rhetoric. The first one was a lesbian foolish trying to put Michele Obama in her “place” a year or two ago. Mrs. Obama handled it nice and elegantly (as to be expected) and continued on with her speech while the frustrated-forever frowning-never-smile-about-anything-sterotypical-lesbian hasn’t been heard from since.
Ukin
He showed up at the club to claim his support for the fight against terrorism and his support for the victims. He sidestepped the fact that they were Gay and murdered because they were Gay. It was purely a political appearance designed to promote his run for the Senate. He then reaffirmed his anti-gay bigotry by calling our families a social experiment. Rubio is one of the leading voices that give credence to violence we are experiencing. He has announced his support for a Constitutional Amendment codifying our status as unequal in American law. It is his attacks on the rights of our community that agitate the violence that we saw at the Pulse nightclub.
Masc Pride
@Bob LaBlah: Yes, I remember that too. I think a lot of those “activists” are Queerty members. They have that same “I can be as nasty and insulting to you as I please, but you must respond to me with the utmost respect and sensitivity” attitude we often see from certain users on here. Unnecessary nasty attitudes have become pretty common among LGBT “activists”. Check out Dan Savage’s profanity-laden take on Green Party candidate Jill Stein:

@Masc Pride: You insist on being one of those Piano Bar Gays, singing old show tunes while drinking yourself to the floor. You call each other Miss Thing and Tired Aunties and check the door before you sneak out of the bar. The world has past you by and you’ve been left behind. I see no pride in yourself in your comments.
Masc Pride
@Ukin: Ohhhh, you’re just incredibly misinformed. It is Oscar Mateen and Oscar Mateen only that was responsible for the shooting at Pulse. People have different ideas about marriage. To put the deaths of almost 50 LGBT people on the hands of anyone that feels marriage is between a man and a woman is dishonest, manipulative and totally makes you seem irrational. Rubio not mentioning the LGBT spin isn’t anti-gay at all as it’s also what the FBI has concluded. The FBI investigation found no evidence to prove that Mateen shot up this club because he was self-loathing closeted homosexual that hated gays. As of today, there is nothing to prove it was anything more than a random act of violence by a crazed gunman, which we’ve unfortunately hasn’t been uncommon lately. Before you accuse others of appearances for political gain, you might want to stop and make sure you’re not politicizing as well.
Masc Pride
@Ukin: Lol maybe that’s your era. I’m 33, not 53. But keep trying. 😉
AtticusBennett
@Masc Pride: you’re also a homely closet case that nobody loves 😀 so yay!

@Brian: Yes, Brian would much rather that no politician is ever questioned or held responsible for their votes.

@Bob LaBlah, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CUj_f9CoQk. Don’t you talk about Olive! I’ll mess you up! (starts at 0:38)

@Masc Pride: You are not capable of seeing beyond the end of your own nose. Events are connected and for every action there is a reaction. You will never understand that, it is far beyond your abilities.
Are you working for the family research counsel? Your comments seem to come right from their playbook.
Masc Pride
@Ukin: You are not capable of accepting facts over emotional speculation, so you don’t bother with anything that doesn’t serve your arguing points (even if it’s been concluded by the FBI).
Are you working for Brian Williams? It seems you like to avoid the truth.
Goforit
@Brian: @Masc Pride: I guess that I am going to break one of my personal rules yet again. I try not to react to you “right wing, teabag, Uncle Toms of the gay community. But here I go again. Whatever hate group that is paying you to spread their lies, is not getting their moneys worth. Your personal attacks in an attempt to divert from the real issues, simply does not work. Crawl out of your mommy’s basement and try to experience the real world sometime. Stop listening to Faux News, Michael Savage, Rush, Newsmax, Britebart and the rest of the right wing media. They are only using you for their own enrichment. They do not have you or the nation in their best interest. In other words, grow up and get a real life.
Ukin
@Goforit: It’s no use, they are being paid to post here.

Pot meet kettle. Epic shaming fail!

@brparkrunner: Thank you. That was cute. You had me going there for a moment.
