Producer and reality star David Gest (formerly Mr. Liza Minnelli) was found dead in his Four Seasons hotel room in Canary Wharf, London earlier today. He was 62 years old.
“Police were called at 10:17 hrs on Tuesday 12 April to the Four Seasons hotel, in Westferry Circus, E14, to reports of an unexplained death of a man in his 60s. London Ambulance Service were called to the scene. Life was pronounced extinct at the hotel,” a statement from the Metropolitan Police reads.

“A post-mortem will be held in due course,” the statement continues. “Next of kin are in the process of being informed.”

Gest, who was a close friend of the late Michael Jackson and who was briefly married to Liza Minnelli in 2002, recently appeared on Celebrity Big Brother, but left after just 13 days for unspecified medial reasons. As of now, his death is being treated as unexplained.
Minnelli has yet to release a statement. Despite a messy divorce, which included allegations Minnelli had physically abused Gest, the couple appeared to be on good terms in the end, with Gest saying: “I wish her well and tell people they should see her live in concert. Liza is a great performer–she has been singing the same songs for more than 35 years. She’s a true legend.”
Gest was scheduled to embark on a U.K. tour in July called “David Gest Is Not Dead, But Alive With Soul.” And in January, he tweeted this cryptic meme of himself:

I actually know what this tweet is about. I don’t watch TV. I’ve never seen this show (just clips) and I’ve never seen any of the people from this clip. A guy on Twitter tweeted “This is the best thing ever” or something like that, so I watched it.
It was Celebrity Big Brother, I don’t know which country, probably England. This old lady named Angela (I think) tells this woman Tiffany that she has a secret “David’s dead”. Well Tiffany flips her shit. She totally loses it. It goes on and on, then Tiffany walks out to the pool area and tells a couple of other people that Angela told her David is dead. And they are confused.
I don’t remember how it all resolved itself, but Angela is David Bowie’s ex-wife. David Bowie had just died. So when she told Tiffany “David’s Dead”, Tiffany assumed she meant David Gest because he was also on the show and asleep somewhere in the house.

…I did think that Liza Minnelli and him getting married was and looked ridiculously fake, what was the reason? She amazingly got turned off very quickly??? So I wasn’t surprised at all the marriage only lasted for the time it did—was he actually GAY though? Honestly, take a close look at him…well not that close!
