“A campaign is under way to promote equal rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) people by encouraging same-sex couples to hold hands in public. The A Day in Hand campaign, organised by a new group, also called A Day in Hand, wants people to upload pictures of same-sex hand-holding to their website, to help spread the word and raise awareness. It has received backing from a number of public figures, including human rights activists Peter Tatchell and Cleve Jones, who was also aide to Harvey Milk, while I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here star [and former London mayoral candidate] Brian Paddick appears in a photo shoot for the campaign. The photos are being used to create a same-sex love map of the world. London is currently the same-sex hand-holding hotspot of the world, with more couples in the city uploading their photos than anywhere else.” [Community Newswire]

Wow, another day that makes me feel like shit because I don’t have a boyfriend. Can we move this to Feb 14th?
TANK
Awwww…hahahaha…not having a boyfriend makes you feel like shit? That’s just so young. And when or if you get one, you’ll feel like shit for the opposite reason.
I love these token meaningless little gestures that people contrive to be all self important and whatnot (rallies, too)…they accomplish nothing, and make people feel like “activists”…radicals, even! That’s good for people who are too lazy to recycle.

@Alex: Yeah, but I’m sure you got a friend who would hold your hand.

Hey Tank
It’s a real shame you can’t support this campaign. If you can’t take responsibility for your own equality, don’t stand on the shoulders of activists and take what you want from gay culture.
We have accomplished a lot already, it’s a shame you feel you can’t be a part of supporting equal rights.
Snide comments accomplish nothing.
But please send in your photos to [email protected]
