GayCities has teamed up with Coors Light to discover the coolest gay events, venues and entertainers in San Diego, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Dallas and Columbus.
And the final and most exciting phase of this “Who Is Coldest?” contest is here: 25 parties have been selected to represent the best of gay nightlife in each city.
In San Francisco, you have the quirky Hard French facing off against Heklina’s monthly powerhouse of a party, Trannyshack.
Half-naked studs in Los Angeles have to choose between getting Cocked and Loaded at Revolver, meeting up with Rasputin at Robertson Lounge or taking a trip with Bears in Space at Akbar.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Meanwhile, Dallas keeps the cowboys awake at night Cruisin’ the Crossroads and Country Dancing at Round-Up Saloon.
You don’t have to live in one of the five selected cities to vote, but time is running out: The competition ends on Tuesday, October 16 at midnight.

Unless things have changed recently, Coors is a beer that refuses to allow its workers to form unions. What are gay and lesbian people doing associating with the company – if that is the case. Surely we have more sense and decency than to align ourselves with those who oppress otthers.

Have I missed something? Isn’t the gay boycott of Coors that Harvey Milk started in thehe 1970s still in effect? I, for one, haven’t EVER seen Coors served in a gay bar.
The company has tried to overcome its anti-gay image with equal-opportunity employment practices, sponsorship of gay events and advertising in gay publications — even by hiring Mary Cheney to serve as a liaison to the gay community. Apparently it’s working, if GayCities is “teaming up” with them.
But the problem isn’t the company itself. It’s the Coors family and its foundation that continue to contribute to homophobic organizations. That’s the reason for the boycott.

The Heritage Foundation, founded and financed by Joseph Coors, is famous for far right wing attacks on gay rights, including 1) opposition to the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy, supporting instead the full ban on gay and lesbian service members, 2) opposition to the Legal Services Corporation (which provides legal aid to poor people) for giving legal assistance to gay and lesbian couples seeking to adopt children, and 3) strongly criticizing the U.S. Supreme Court for striking down Colorado’s anti-gay Amendment 2 (which banned gay rights laws in Colorado).
Castle Rock Foundation is another Coors organization, created to conceal the Coors name. William Coors is president of both the Adolph Coors and Castle Rock Foundations. Jeffrey Coors was a board member of Castle Rock along with his uncle William Coors. Until at least the year 2000, Castle Rock gave at least $150,000 per year to the Free Congress Foundation, whose website posts a “Declaration of Cultural Independence” that demonizes gays.

Sounds like the community needs to let GayCities know how we feel about this 😉
