Joaquin Phoenix brings subtlety, insight and power to his roles in films like Her and Walk the Line.
Which makes his appearance in this preview/fundraising clip for Camp: The Documentary seem a tad strange/stiff.
But don’t get us wrong, the project looks great — 20 teens (including one trans boy and some other gay teens) all working through some intense personal dynamics, coming together to share their stories and document their growth.
The camp’s director promises, “learning, conflict resolution, emotional intelligence and healthier communication skills which change behavior, thinking and action.”
Which I’m pretty sure my roommates could really benefit from also. Because the chore wheel was a failure.
Here’s the preview:

Good to see he’s come around… I remember when Mark Wahlberg threw him under the bus as a fellow homophobe when he went on his bizarre anti-Brokeback Mountain tirade several years ago and citing Joaquin as someone who was as disgusted by the script as he.

Just as usual he can suck eggs. Wolf in a sheep skin! sit on my jack.
