Nearly 8-in-10 Americans want to see gays serve openly in the armed forces, relays a new Washington Post-ABC News poll. Now let’s see whether lawmakers in the House of Representatives — which, you know, is supposed to represent the country — matches wits.

I’m going to miss Nancy. She is the one person in politics in Washington that has balls. She isn’t perfect; but, at least she strives.
Reid just acts weak, week after week. Obama IS a Republican – how else could he maintain 98% of Bush’s agenda?
Many claim that if we don’t support Obama we could get a Republican president. I ask, don’t we currently have a Republican president? Measure your candidate by thier actions (what they do), not by their party or their lofty, but meaningless words.
Google “Business International Corporation, Obama and front company”. Obama isn’t a Democrat. This is the answer to the question people ask “why is he doing that?”

@Ronbo: I agree, Sarah Palin 2012 is completely the way to go.
Anyways, IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE if 90% of the population supports repeal, because this country isn’t ruled at the national level by the populace.
This country is ruled by a collective of the states. Its easy to get such poll numbers based on the fact that these polls are normally conducted in larger cities in more liberal leaning areas to begin with.
This is one measure that won’t be decided by NYC and other major cities, so it is very important to try to make end roads with other areas, and you don’t do that by threatening legal action and declaring war against the straights.
I obviously want to see DADT repealed, but I’m realistic enough to know that John McCain knows the political game much better than pretty much anyone in Washington DC, and taking him head on is the equivalent of trying to run into a tractor trailer on a bicycle.

First the civics lesson. The House of Representatives consists of elected representatives, all from districts of approximately the same size (as close as can be reasonably managed). The Senate consists of two senators from each state, each elected by popular vote within that that state. So, the U.S. is not ruled by a collection of states in theory. In practice, it is ruled by a group of people beholden to the rich folks and corporations that support their election campaigns.
As to “poll numbers”, a well-run survey uses a representative sample, and great care is taken to remove any biases, such as over-representing more liberal areas. This is not the sort of
survey some religious group pushing its agenda might try. Perhaps personal experience with such religious groups is giving “Daez” a distorted view of reality.

i believe Mr. McCain is running out of reasons to not support this bill. its also good to see some progress in this issue. i wonder when the day will come when people will be polite and nice to each other even if they don’t agree, mama always said, never stoop to their level, makes you no better than them. 🙂

I am not an American, so my political views are negligible. I used to respect John McCain, though I did not often agree with him. In this case he has made himself a laughingstock. His honesty has become completely unreliable.
