matt-bomerWhite Collar hunk Matt Bomer welcomed Wentworth Miller into the openly gay actors club this week, telling E! News that he’s “really proud” of the Prison Break star for opening up and making a bold statement with his announcement.

Earlier this week, Miller came out as gay in a letter to the St. Petersburg International Film Festival. He declined an invitation to attend the event, saying he could not “in good conscience participate in a celebratory occasion hosted by a country where people like myself are being systematically denied their basic right to live and love openly.”

“Wow, I think its really bold and incredibly classy how he came out and did it,” Bomer told E! at a U.S. Open kickoff party this week in New York. “I am really proud of him. Its very reflective of his amazing character.”

Miller joins a number of celebrities in voicing opposition to Russia’s recent “gay propaganda” laws, and joins Andy Cohen as the second notable celeb to decline traveling to Russia in light of the new legislation.
