By now, you’ve no doubt heard about Kayne West’s visit to see Donald Trump in the Oval Office yesterday.
Forget Hurricane Michael ripping through the Florida panhandle, or the tanking U.S. stock market, or the missing journalist Jamal Khashoggi who was reportedly tortured, murdered, and dismembered inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul earlier this month. Trump and West had important business to discuss!
Wearing a red Make America Great Again hat, West told Trump the hat made him feel like “Superman” in front of dozens reporters. They also talked about important things like Saturday Night Live and Chinese manufacturing jobs.
Don Lemon called the whole thing “embarrassing” and a “minstrel show”:
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
I have no animosity for Kanye West. I’m just going to be honest and I may get in a lot of trouble for it. I actually feel bad for him. What I saw was a minstrel show today. Him in front of all these white people, mostly white people, embarrassing himself and embarrassing Americans, but mostly African-Americans, because every one of them is sitting either at home or with their phones, watching this, cringing.
Meanwhile, longtime Kanye West collaborator rapper T.I. took to Instagram to publicly condemn his behavior.
“At one time it was a pleasure to work alongside you… now, I’m ashamed to have ever been associated with you,” he wrote. “I’ve reached my limits. This is my stop, I’m officially DONE!!!!”
Others on Twitter were equally horrified by the spectacle.
Sadly, I just listened to the full Kayne West clip. Him shouting profanities in the Oval Office aside, all that he said about African Americans, welfare and all else was a lie. He’s pushing conspiracy theories. He’s mentally unstable. He’s an embarrassment.

How any serious journalist or news outlet could cover this Kanye West nonsense instead of climate change, voter suppression in Georgia or any number of issues that actually matter and not this fucking bullshit pr stunt by a narcissistic pop star I’ll never know. Shameful.

As an African American, let me be perfectly clear, delusional Kanye West, does not speak for me. #KayneWest #kanyetrump

Can’t help but wonder if Trump or any of his White House toadies have bothered to watch Kanye’s current video of his “hit” single, “I Love It.” It is perhaps the most vile and reprehensible thing I’ve ever seen, and for the so-called President of the United States to allow this purveyor of such disgusting filth an audience in the Oval Office of The People’s House is beyond depressing and beyond perverse in every conceivable way.

but… but… but… Obama wore a tan suit once!

while i agree with many that believe it was all for the photo-op i also think that the secondary reason was so that dumpy-the -humper could look at his staff and say ‘now who’s the crazy one? and you think i say stupid shit?’.

America has become a degenerate reality TV show, worse than Jersey Shore, worse than Teen Mom, worse than any Housewives of…
When I was a little kid, our schools used to have bomb raid drills where we’d hide under our desks… now I’d welcome the damn bombs.

Miss the 80s Trump. So sad.
1898
you mean the 80s trump that evicted tenants just for being black? you mean the 80s trump that falsely accused 5 black men and spent millions trying to get them executed by the death penalty? (they were later exonerated and your tax dollars were used to pay for their pain and suffering)
Mick406
While I’m glad to see a black person support the president . . . . damn . . . why does it have to be a rapper who spits out more filth than the end of a sewer pipe!?

Who’s the black person?

Why are you glad to see a black person support the president?

Well, forget Kanye, there’s always Pyramid Guy! – sleepy Dr. Ben Carson.

It appears to me that Kanye may have been having a manic episode. I hope he gets the help that he needs before things get too far out of hand.

Queerty, what the hell is wrong with you? You post an article saying how people are “so over” Chelsea Handler’s gay jokes about Lindsey Graham, and then you post several pictures of Kanye and Trump as a gay couple. Have you no sense of cognitive dissonance, or are you just acting like some low rent agent provocateur? Either way, you’re self-righteous indignation is beyond transparent.
