Move Over, Reichen: The Gay Guy (And His Straight Brother) Who Won Amazing Race

Congratulations to Jordan and Daniel Pious, the gay-and-straight brother team, who took home the $1 million prize on The Amazing Race.

Maybe you watched these two compete all season? And saw how adorable they were together? And wished Jordan might be single?

Not a huge fan of Amazing Race, did watch a few times this season because of the Lesbian team and the Gay and bro team. Sensed good deal of homophobia from other teams towards the Gays, ‘specially from the “models” team. So nice to see a Gay team kick their butts!!…………..

  • Tylertime

I know I will get crap for this, but why is it that I find every guy on that couch cuter (even Harry Smith) than the gay one?

  • RomanHans

I watched the show, and regret to say Jordan was a total whiner. I try to excuse it, because he’s like 18 years old, but I’m still not happy that they won. They certainly weren’t the fastest team, and they also weren’t the nicest team.

Still, my #1 priority for the finale was that the Model Morons didn’t win, because the eightieth time they spat out the word “LESBIANS!” I deduced that maybe there was a slight tinge of homophobia there.

  • Jaroslaw

Tylertime- whatever it is worth, I agree. But statistically, the Gay Bro’s got the bigger_______!

  • scott ny'er

The lesbian teams were not nice. The brothers who won weren’t a great prize either. The cowboys had integrity, were polite, nice and should’ve won.

The only team that really came across well AND that was gay were the Chas Chas on the 1st time around.

I’m not certain if I would be so proud of these gays this season representing us. I don’t think homophobia had anything to do with it. More like, those people weren’t really nice people. Meaning the lesbos and the gay/straight bro team.

  • fredo777

    Sorry, but two gays are better than one. ; }

  • Cam

I didn’t think this team was bad. They weren’t engaged in most of the gamesmenship of the other teams. And as far as whining goes, I will give people a break when they’ve had no sleep, it’s 110 degrees out, and they have a cab driver that is insisting on takeing them in the wrong direction. I figured if either this team or the cowboys won I’d be fine….although, the one cowboy was sounding just a bit homophobic when he alluded to “Immediatly knowing about some people” etc…

As long as the irritating models didn’t win I was happy. (Still can’t really believe that that guy was a model, he was pretty much the least attractive guy in the race.)

  • john

Those Rhode Island boys cheated when they cut in line at the airport AND got some flight attendant to bump them up to first class. The cowboys showed more integrity and should have won.

  • afrolito

The amazing race is not a contest about who is the nicest, and most charming. It’s about who plays the game the best. The gay bros were cool, and played a great game. I was super happy they won.

I don’t know why everyone is so in love with the cowboys, who probably loathe gays just as much as the model morons.

  • Eminent Victorian

I’m glad the annoying models didn’t win, but the “Bros” weren’t exactly great racers, either. And it was really made to seem as though they won because of rudeness and cheating in the last leg. Not very classy, gay or not. The cowboys kept their character.

Team Cha-Cha-Cha were great, and they were in Season 2.

  • Kim

“The cowboys kept their character” Well Dan claims Jet called Jordan a “fag”. google REALITY TV WORLD for full interview.

  • AlwaysGay

Congrats to Dan and Jordan! Your strategy paid off. Few people thought you had a shot to win.

Any team with a gay member in it is always treated negatively by the heterosexual audience unless they have zero chance and no desire to win. Every “bad” thing gay people do is magnified and hammered in. Heterosexuals can do so much negative stuff until people call them on it. We saw that with Caite and Brent bashing Carol and Brandy every episode over a silly off-handed joke they never heard. Heterosexuals like usual lined up behind Caite and Brent as they bashed Carol and Brandy yet excused every negative thing they said. The same goes for Mike and Louie, they made jokes left and right about other teams many times very personal and the heterosexual audience said nothing. Everyone is saying how nice Jet and Cord are yet ignore how they threatened to beat up Jordan and kick his teeth in as they were standing in line in China. Dan and Jordan revealed in an interview ( that Jet called Jordan a f*g this past Saturday.

Yes, Scott NY’er, anti-gay bigotry did play a part in this season. Caite and Brent purposefully used the word lesbian in a derogatory manner to bash Carol and Brandy. Carol and Brandy stated in several interviews that they talked to Caite and Brent several times from leg 6-9 including a conversation about her pageant meltdown and never knew they hated them until the day of the U-Turn. Obviously Caite and Brent were calling them by their names to their faces and saying really bad stuff about them behind their backs before the U-Turn. For those that don’t know, Carol and Brandy ran the rest of the race as decoys. During the final legs Caite and Brent taunted and called Carol and Brandy derogatory names which is why Brandy was mad at the finish line. You can hear a couple of those comments in episode 10 and 11.

Is the left cowboy gay too, or am I reading too much into it?

  • AndrewW

    Who is Reichen?

  • tjr101

I for one is happy with the outcome. I think the critical turning point in the last round was when the brothers got that bump up to first class, that was huge.

The cowboys played a clean decent race but I can’t help but sense homophobia in their mannerisms. The lesbians were very rude and nasty throughout the race but they were fiercely competitive and lost because of that u turn.

  • Mike L.

Are they fraternal twins, b/c they don’t look 100% identical, or is it maybe the gay gene that makes the right one a little more dif than his bro?

  • edgyguy1426

Everyone who watches ‘reality’ TV knows that the participants are pretty much at the mercy of the editors. The fact is the brothers won because they were SMARTER. They were smarter to ask for an upgrade which is within the parameters of the rules, they were smarter in writing down the sequence of eliminations to help them in the memory challenge.I would have been just as happy to see the cowboys win but the brothers just played a better endgame. As for the cheating accusations you have to believe the producers go over every inch of footage and if there’s evidence of cheating that would effect the outcome of the game they’d be all over it.

@Mike L.: RE: the Gay gene making them different………use the Googles and hit “Gay twins porn” or go one better and insert (ha ha)”triplets”………sometimes they aren’t that different!! :-p

  • edgyguy1426

Oh, and they were smarter to do the ‘spin’ move to read the final clue. Jordan was spinning right in front of the coyboys and they didn’t pick up on it till it was too late.

  • Shaniqua Ubangi

@john: It’s not against the rules to sit in first class. THe rules say you have to buy economy but they can seat you anywhere. So if they asked and they got permission to sit there, then it’s not against the rules.

@AlwaysGay: Where’s the source for this. I know they have teams run as decoys but where did you get the background info on them calling them names, etc during that portion

  • t money

that whiney lil fruit was annoying!!!! i totally wanted the cowboys to win. they were definetly better people.

the two brothers just got nastier and nastier as they got closer to the finale.

its a game. they played it. not in the best way.

the other brothers were such good people. just not as cunning.

  • delurker again

The gay boi and her brother are both total bitches. I wanted the cowboys to win. Ah, the perks of upgrading to first class.

  • afrolito

    LMAO! I knew it!

    Reality blurred:

Meanwhile, despite a CBS publicists’ pathetic effort to get them to not talk about things outside of the lame, noncontroversial stuff (“Let’s talk about their strategic play on the show”), Dan and Jordan told Reality TV World that cowboy Jet has a problem with gay people.

Interestingly, Jordan defends Caite (“She definitely is not homophobic”) and Caite’s response to Carol and Brandy (he said that when he challenged her on the race about U-Turning Carol and Brandy, he wasn’t accusing her). Instead, the brothers say that Jet is actually the one who made homophobic comments about the lesbian team and now, about him.

Dan said, “Jet hates gays, yeah,” and Jordan said that “he made comments about Carol and Brandy on the show.” Dan added that “Jet called Jordan a ‘fag’ Saturday night for absolutely no reason and Jordan just said hello to him, so there was something on the Race and I guess, in all fairness, there’s some stuff that isn’t shown and I think it’s an important thing to get out. Because I don’t think there’s any doubt that certain things happened and it all plays a part in everyone’s reaction. … I think there’s some animosity but it really goes one-way.”

  • AlwaysGay

@Shaniqua Ubangi: In episode 10 and 11 you can hear Caite and Brent taunt and call Carol and Brandy names especially during the fashion challenge in episode 10. Brandy referenced it in an extra clip on “The Amazing Race” website. Go to the video section then click on page three of the newest videos section and you will find a video called “Brandy Continues” and listen from :17 to :22 seconds into the video.

I know Carol and Brandy were decoys because “The Amazing Race” has had decoys from season one. All “The Amazing Race” fansites talk about it. The race does it to throw off people who might actually see the race in progress and report on it. Usually the last three teams eliminated before the final leg continue to race as decoys. Carol and Brandy weren’t at Elimination Station which is another clue they were still racing.

No, you aren’t, he came off gay to me on the show, and he was the one most uncomfortable with the other gays on the show. I think you nailed it.

  • edgyguy1426

Afrolito called it. There was some homophobia on the part of at least one of the cowboys toward the gay/straight brothers. That’s what you didn’t see on TV. So after reading this I’m glad the cowboys didn’t get thru first.

  • scott ny'er

@john: I agree. They did cheat by cutting the line. Which is really bad.

  • afrolito

The producers of the show obviously didn’t think they cheated, and theirs is the only opinion that counts…..not a bunch of self loathers on the net.

  • Cam

@john: I agree. They did cheat by cutting the line. Which is really bad.

So it’s cheating for them to cut a line but not for somebody to run faster than somebody else to win the race, or for somebody else to U-Turn somebody, or somebody else to finish a contest sooner? The rules are, get it done. They got it done. And without calling the cowboys any names. Additionally, you apparently didn’t see the part where one brother was trying to talk another brother through the maze and the cowboy kept yelling out wrong directions to them to try to mess them up. If cutting is cheating then so is that.

  • Mike L.

@Cam: lol I’d like to save a horse and ride that cowboy, LOL although it seems weird, he totally gives that vibe off, then I was like did something happen between the gay twin and him???????????????

I don’t know. But as soon as I finish this post I wont care LOL.

  • scott ny'er

@Cam: Running faster is different than cutting the line. Cutting the line is always a dickish move. You saw they were there before you. So, you get in line. If the cowboys wanted to, they really could have cut right back in front of them to “get it done”. They are bigger and stronger.

And they didn’t have to even cut the line because they would’ve gotten into first class anyway.

And just because they said the cowboy called him a fag doesn’t mean I believe him after he cheated. No integrity = less apt to believe what you say. Just like I won’t believe what the models say. The girl one at least.

And honestly, after being cut in line I would try to distract the brothers too at that star wars challenge. Because all bets are off then.

Just because the bro is gay doesn’t mean I’ll blindly support them and be bias towards them. I love the Chas Chas. So far, other gay peeps haven’t live up to their good sporting natures.

One can win the race without being an ass, it’s been done before.

  • Mike L.

@PLAYS WELL WITH OTHERS: I’d rather not, I’ve seen what you’re talking about between the twins, and I was a little grossed out.

  • Cam

So it isn’t cheating now it’s a dickish move? If people cheat the producers send them back don’t let them win. If the brothers engaged in gamesmenship thats allowed. In this game people snag other people’s taxis, they give them wrong directions etc… That is how they win. It’s like saying that somebody cheated on Survivor because they told a lie. I’m sorry, but to get all heated because they bought a ticket for the same plane first is silly.

  • Mike L.

@Cam: Nevermind I just though that observed a little more, maybe he’s crossing his legs so his foot doesn’t accindetally come into contact with the gay’s foot. ???? Since you say he looked unconfortable with the gays in the show, still could be b/c he’s hiding, legs crossed or not, he still gave me a vibe.

Crap Um ok I don’t care, or I shouldn’t lol.

  • Henry Holland

Upfront: I wanted the cowboys to win. However, The Bros made a good, legal move with the upgrade to first class and that was really the difference in the race, it gave them about a 15 minute lead. Keep in mind, they also stole someone’s cab, a big no-no on this show.

As for Jordan, yikes, *another* in the series of TAR gay losers, guys who whine the whole time, threaten to quit about 5 times an episode and only succeed because they’re paired with a heterosexual. And they can protest all they want, but Carol and Brandy really did say some nasty things about the other teams and all the teams had problems with them, it can’t be a great big conspiracy against The Lesbians, can it?

As for Jet and Cord, maybe Jet has problems, it’s a he said/he said at this point; their interview will be up Reality TV World on Wednesday, I hope they get a chance to respond.

For season 4, I wrote recaps for a friends website where I analyzed every single shot in every episode and it was obvious that two episodes in of that project that this show is edited within an inch of its life. You can hear someone say a simple sentence like “I really had to run to make it to the clue box” and it’s clear that it was edited together from 3 different audio tracks, stuff like that. All the teams are edited to fit a storyline the makers decide on, if they decided to make Caite a dumb bitch, she was going to be a dumb bitch on the show, it wouldn’t matter if she was Phi Beta Kappa and a reincarnation of Mother Theresa.

The last 3 seasons have been fantastic, can’t wait for the new one in September.

  • Mike in MO

talking about “how they played” is for losers. for real.

I’m angry that the models made it to the final. It almost makes me lose respect for The Race.

  • Aaron in Honolulu

The gay twin (to me) looks cuter :)

  • The Artist

This all seems very silly. PEACELUVNBWILD!

  • Kieran

I was kind of hoping I’d have a hard time telling the gay brother from the straight brother.
