At least the photographer chose to have Casey Field lie upon the tracks of an obviously disused or outright abandoned railway line – the heavy rust on the rails is evidence of that. Still, I hope they used their common sense and kept their eyes and ears wide open to the possibility that a train could suddenly come along!
The dumbest thing is cross-country skiers on railroad tracks after a deep snow – trains are not impeded by deep snowfalls from traveling at or near their regular speed. Skiers and other trespassers have been killed while going along main line railway tracks after a deep snow – the tracks may appear to be abandoned and/or unusable – but don’t be fooled!
