Ryan Reynolds is giving some sexy, R-rated swagger in Deadpool, which is out this weekend, and he’s open to doing a little gay-pandering while on the promo stroll for the pansexual superhero.
In a red-carpet interview with Variety, Reynolds made it known that he’s well aware the character is pansexual, and hopes to take his sexuality even further in any sequels.
In case you need a primer on pansexuality, we’ve got you covered. Pansexual means “not limited in sexual choice with regard to biological sex, gender, or gender identity.”Basically, it’s a sexual free-for-all. Hell, we wish we were wired to have so many options. Anyways, Reynolds is all about that pansexuality when it comes to Deadpool. He said:
“I love that about Deadpool. I love that he can break any boundary. In the future, I hope we get to do that more.”
And as for a boyfriend for Deadpool?
“I certainly wouldn’t be the guy standing in the way of that. That would be great.”
Usually we’re not here for the gay pandering, but we were headed out to see Deadpool anyway, so we’re all about it. Variety says the allusions to Deadpool’s pansexuality are played for humor, but since they’re breaking the R-rated superhero barrier, who’s to say Deadpool 2 can’t have a male love interest?
That would be something truly groundbreaking for a superhero flick.

I believe the first bisexual superhero was MIRACLEMAN. He kissed KID (yes, kid) Miracleman in the mouth in the last episode of the series. It is gorgeous.

They have to break the R-rated superhero movie barrier before it is ok for him to have a male love interest? They will just turn it into a big joke so the straight audience can laugh away their discomfort.

Puh-leaze. 20th Century Fox’s marketing department needs to just ride out this wave without trying to convince us DEADPOOl, of all characters, is some revolutionary LGBTQ hero. His character is sexually fluid the way the Joker is- for comedic effect and often not in a highly sexual way. Sorry, that’s just the truth. It’s still a fking hetero love story, it’s still primarily marketed to hetero boys, it’s still not going to go to any place genuine or risque with the “pansexual” stuff because it’s a friggen major studio blockbuster that could fail in this deadland movie season if they don’t find some angle.
I get it, I get it. Us gays don’t have kids as often which gives us a disposable income, we’re more invested in the entertainment industry….we’re a reliable “bump” to ticket sales. But this is just all too much. Deadpool making ironic gay jokes or kissing Colossus while he’s wearing his mask and Colossus in his organic metal shell as some fricken punchline isn’t some RA-RA!! gay rights moment. C’mon now.

Can’t we just enjoy an entertaining movie without thinking about all that those stuff?
Too much over analysis over things that are supposed to be consume for leisure and entertainment. Nothing totally wrong with it.. but sometimes it just gets to be too much.
if they want to pander to the homo audience, just let them.. you dont have to be all bitchy and snarky about it. If some people in the community believe it is a step in the right direction, why does it give you pleasure to prove them wrong. just let it go and enjoy the show

LOL – I love how Ryan Reynolds is basically conceding that Deadpool doesn’t really want to touch the issue of Deadpool’s homosexuality. LOL.
These Hollywood actors are ridiculous, overpaid panderers. Whenever there’s a buck to be made, there at it.
Hollywood is the most homophobic institution out there.
Brian
@Pistolo: You are exactly right. I find it hilarious how the gay media keeps trying to convince ordinary gay-identifying guys that Hollywood is this beacon of hope for gay humanity. Hollywood is actually the most homophobic institution out there. It will never change.

If you need someone i really want to do it ð???
Captain Obvious
Oh please, don’t hold your breath. They don’t even let the closeted gay actors come out until their careers are either dead or on life support. You think they’re gonna let a Marvel character carry a story with a same sex love interest? Yeah right.
Oli1023
@Brian: Hollywood is pretty homophobic, but it’s hardly THE MOST homophobic institution out there.
Captain Obvious
@Oli1023: …Considering they have contracted beards, hired escorts, and even coaches to help the guys butch it up I’d say it’s definitely the most homophobic institution out there. Why they go to such lengths to cover up something so silly when Hollywood itself is run by mostly gay men makes the entire thing ludicrous.
