We’ve found this season of True Blood to be a little..anemic, shall we say? But with a bevy of manflesh on display, and breakout star Deborah Ann Woll (Babyvamp Jessica) getting a meatier role, we’re still tuning in every week. We hope the bloodsucking drama takes a turn for the better, though, because HBO just announced they’re renewing Alan Ball’s vampire series for a fifth season, set to debut in summer 2012.
We’re not up on the Sookie Stackhouse books—and we’re pretty sure Ball has been diverging from the source material anyway—but if you can give us a tip on what’ll happen next, tell us in the comments. (Spoiler Alerts appreciated.)

Lots of male ass cracks, the delightful baby vamp Jessica, plus the cunty, deteriorating Pam, all make this season of True Blood a hoot. Marne is fun, too. Will Bill and Eric finally prevail and kill the necromancer?

How can you not love somebody as demure and shy as Pam. I believe her phrase for the week was “Uppity Wican Cunt”.

Well, they’ve already started a lot of the storylines. Claudine saves Sookie from a house fire caused by the Fellowship of the Sun church, from Season 2. Except Claudine is dead now, so not sure how that’ll work. Sookie is shot by a cook from Merlotte’s. Jason is actually turned into a were-panther in this book, which may or may not happen this season. Also, Alcide’s father and another werewolf are in a battle to become packleader. Tara’s character is completely different in the books also, so who knows where she’ll end up. She’s dating Franklin Mott in this book and as you know, he was killed last season. Alan Ball is definitely getting farther and farther from the storyline, but the addition of Jessica and Pam has made the story much better.

I love the characters of Pam and Jess. Although, Pam is probably one of my favorites other than Lafayette who really died in the books. I’m not sure what to think about Tommy I can’t believe he did that to Sam with the girl that Sam actually cares about. I’m glad Tommy killed his parents they were worthless trash. Alcide needs to be naked more and so does Erik…. but hey that’s just my request. The new character Antonia/Marnie both get on my nerves like really bad. Guess that’s just my .02. I am glad that Bill made the decision not to show Erik the true death, but I’m reluctant to find out just how much longer Erik will forget his past.

I forgot. Any scene with Alcide. Damn, that boy is fine!

@christopher di spirito: I agree, they could stop following the books the minute they showed him shirtless!

What are they talking about “anemic”? This season has been really good! Tight writing, wonderful acting (I mean, Fiona Shaw!); the hour flies by. Glad to see it’s coming back at least for another year.
R.A,
100 percent agree with Riker.
Each season has gotten hotter and more fun – and Fiona Shaw can change from your friendly next-door pagan into a monster without special effects. Her every syllable is spellbinding.
Interesting
Lala is all mine!

That fucking witch has me waiting every week the next episode. But what’s really dragging on is the Arlene “evil” baby and the black woman spirit. They need to fucking hurry that up and tell us what we should be afraid of or why…

This season was really wearing on me, taking too much time to set the whole think up since they skipped a year while Sookie was in fairyland. But with the last few episodes they really pulled it together and made it interesting again. I’m glad I’m not the only one who’s noticed that Deborah Woll is making the most of her role as Jessica.
My only problem with Lafayette is that his feminine qualities are no longer balanced with the toughness he showed in the first season. (Remember when the rednecks refused to eat a burger he cooked because ‘it had AIDS’?) Sure he was half-way to a drag queen, but like many who have had to fight to be themselves he was also tough as nails. Without that he’s almost a gay caricature, the timid nervous nellie.
