Utah House Speaker Kevin Garn Voted For Domestic Partnership Benefits, Paying a Woman to Keep Quiet About Their Naked Hot Tub Teen Rendezvous

Kevin Garn, the speaker of Utah’s State House, is married and has six children. At one point he contemplated a run for Congress. In 2008, he cast a vote in favor of extending benefits to the same-sex domestic partners of state employees. And today he admitted to paying off a then-15-year-old girl, who got naked in a hot tub with him in 1985 when Garn was 30, to stay quiet during his 2002 campaign.

Queerty, you missed a very relevant and important point of this story: in 2002, while running for Congress, Garn paid out $150,000 in hush money to keep his secret a secret.

It matters not how Garn voted on any issue; it does not change that he is a creep! And it does not matter that this happened 25 years ago. Thirty year-olds are adults; it does not matter what the girl did, she’s a kid.

Was the 15 year-old a Mormon, too? Did her Mormon family take the money to keep quiet, instead of reporting him? Probably.

God, wtf has happened to religion?
