Ada Vox continued her primetime slayage tour on American Idol this week as the remaining contestants performed duets with the pros, and true to form, she brought the house down.
The drag diva has been venturing into well-known cover territory, previously belting out Radiohead’s “Creep” and now conjuring up the harmonic serotonin of Wicked’s “Defying Gravity” with help from Lea Michele.

But while both songs have been done countless times (a quick YouTube search yields hundreds of thousands), Vox manages to stamp originality into every performance, and that is the making of a real powerhouse performer.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Needless to say, Vox made it through to the next round and is absolutely one to watch for the other Idol hopefuls.

Yeah. He?(she?) did a very good job in that performance. What I like able Ada’s performance is that he didn’t go super melodramatic, over-the-top with his performance as many do when performing show tunes. Way to go Ada.

I have seen this young man’s story from the start and seeing him reach the peak he has already has brought me to tears again I am so happy for him. I wish him much success and happiness. He truly has found himself and his calling. He IS a STAR. I cannot wait to see what he does in the future.

OMG, she is probably the best feeling that I have had since this show aired. Love LMG and her support for a wonderful voice. This was truly a gift.

Maybe it’s because Randy Jackson isn’t there anymore, but I liked that they didn’t go into a bunch of unnecessary runs, like @dinard38 said, didn’t go over the top.
Also, some people might say it’s a cheat to have somebody as good as Lea Michelle singing in the duet, but I’m thinking if you don’t have a good voice, singling with Michelle would expose it right away. Ada completely held her own. I haven’t been watching Idol, but I might tune in.
