WATCH: Virginia Governor Wants Your Gay Dollars In His Pro-Gay State

Gov. Terry McAuliffe

Gov. Terry McAuliffe would like you to come spend your gay dollars in Virginia, casting it as LGBTQ-friendly, something not all Southeastern states can say with a straight face. While their neighbor to the south, North Carolina, hemorrhages money since the passing of the anti-LGBTQ law HB2, Virginia stands ready to scoop up the revenue fleeing the McCrory plagued state.

To that end, Virginia has launched an LGBT Tourism Task Force, adding an LGBTQ specific section to their website, offering information on where to stay, dining, family fun, shopping, weddings and honeymoons, and more. They have also added an online LGBTQ pride store, selling hats, shirts and other rainbow-heart themed “Virginia is For Lovers” merchandise.

Those looking for even more information can consult the newly released “LGBT Tourism Resource Guide.”

“Virginia is proud to be an open and welcoming destination for every visitor attracted by our scenic mountains and beaches, as well as our world-renowned restaurants, wineries and breweries,” McAuliffe said in a recent press release. “I am pleased the Virginia Tourism Corporation has created this landing page to connect travelers with inclusive, LGBT-friendly establishments across the Commonwealth. Virginia is truly for lovers, and we hope you have an unforgettable experience visiting the greatest state in the greatest nation on Earth!”
