Afternoon Aural: Deniece Williams

Deniece Williams‘ “Let’s Hear It For The Boy” stands the test of time. The track, made famous in Footloose, sounds as good today as it did in 1984. Above you’ll see Williams belting it out on Solid Gold.

And, after the jump, you can experience her and Tom Jones’ rendition of “Too Much, Too Little, Too Late,” which Williams originally sang with Johnny Mathis. The track’s not quite as timeless, but still worthy of a shout-out. And a listen.

Wrong website for Denise Williams. I met her while working for Chaka Khan, when she took over a role in “Momma I Want to Sing!” in London in the 90s. Williams is a Bible-bashing homophobic bigot, and hasn’t anything good to say about gays. In fact, she avoids them and any mention of them. Her attitudes are repulsive, and that thin high voice? puh-leeze.
