Mitch McConnell Will Do Whatever John McCain (And Not America) Tells Him

Sen. Mitch McConnell, the Senate minority leader, agrees with John McCain about all those things standing in the way of repealing Don’t Ask Don’t Tell. Like the economy! Or rather, taxpayer funded abortions! “I don’t see how we can possibly finish the Defense Authorization Bill” in the lame duck session, McConnnel says on Meet The Press. So he’s just going to do as McCain does, and try to block DADT repeal any way he can. Even if Americans now support letting gays serve in the military by a 3:1 majority.

National polls are irrelevant. In the US Senate each State gets two Senators and it only matters what people in their State. Many States are still anti-LGBT, especially the South.

We’ll probably get DADT repealed faster if Congress decides not to act since, if they do act, they want to wait til 2012 (and then some, I bet) but once the court rules on this it would be instantaneous.

Doesn’t matter, repeal of DADT is dead anyway.
