Hong Kong’s three-month-long Pink Season of queer events saw the birth of a new monthly queer party, Realm.
Inspired by speakeasy parties he attended in New York, organizer Amadou Doumbia enlisted Hong Kong DJs Steve Lush and Stone Dog (a.k.a. Evan Steer of club Volume Beat) to take over BYOB basement gallery XXX in the hipster-y Sheung Wan district.
Plenty of gay makers and shakers showed up for the maiden party, some with bottles of booze and mixers at the ready. Those itching for Pink Season fun between now and Realm’s December installment can attend the Hong Kong Lesbian & Gay Film Festival, running through December 4.
Enter the Realm here, via XXX Gallery’s not-entirely-nondescript doorway.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.

When I wrote “Homosexuality, Hong Kong, and Hubris: a study in deceit” in 1983, I never realized that Hong Kong would make such progress towards equality. Now they need to begin thinking seriously about same-sexed marriage. Unlike America, Hong Kong is not the Evangelical pit of hell.

Evangelical Pit Of Hell. Perfect description and such a shame that the ‘land of the free’ is filled with members of the pit.
