WATCH: Gay Families Act 'Normal' for the Camera

As you know, we're big fans of media campaigns spreading the message that gays and their families are as "normal" as everyone else. We love each other and do our best to raise kids just like the straights. Which is why we're enjoying the above just-released clip from MarriageNY.com, which shows Syracuse, New York, area families at home, talking about regular family stuff. Evidently it's a message aimed squarely at New York State Sen. David Valesky, an "undecided" on same-sex marriage.

Gay families may be just like other families, but that doesn't mean that all gays have to form families. The whole point is that we need to be free to choose whatever life we want to – be it start a family, get married, or be eternally single and slutty.

It's nobody's business but ours, and if we do choose married monogamy, then that should be respected. But if we don't choose that, that should be respected too.

Well, while NY tries to figure things out, couples are coming to Connecticut to wed this summer from around the country.

In the Litchfield Hills in NW CT, which is about 2 hours north of NY, couples are celebrating their marriages and bringing their families and friends for long and extended weekends here.

And in Greenwich, NY couples are crossing the border, marrying and returning to NY to celebrate.

Either way, CT wins, morally and economically.

Oh, and Iowa beat out NY too…

isn't funding for hiv/aids and lgbt youth and community centers being cut back across the country for the most part? Ah, priorities! Marriage! It just seems like a push by comparatively privileged white gays. Don't get me wrong, I think it's an injustice to prohibit it, but should this be where most of our energy and resources are invested? It seems to be where they are…
